| DESIGN NAME: One 16 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hybrid Jetski Boat INSPIRATION: The One 16 was inspired by the growing trend of adventure boating and the desire for a versatile, compact vessel that combines the excitement of a jet ski with the comfort and social aspects of a small boat. Designed to appeal to both jet ski enthusiasts and newcomers to boating, the goal was to create an adaptable watercraft that enhances the boating experience for all types of users. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The One 16 is a groundbreaking design that turns a jet ski into a 6-meter boat capable of hosting up to six people. Built in Spain, this hybrid watercraft blends performance with comfort, offering a plug-and-play experience compatible with major jet ski brands. With a versatile layout, including a convertible bow table and sunbathing area, as well as storage for a portable refrigerator, the One 16 provides both leisure and functional options. A top speed over 30 knots and a cruising speed of 14-20 knots make it ideal for both fast-paced adventures and relaxed cruising. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The One 16 operates as a hybrid watercraft by attaching a personal watercraft (PWC) to the main hull, which provides propulsion. Its innovative design allows easy conversion from jet ski mode to boat mode within minutes, with seating for up to six passengers. The integrated sunbathing area, bimini, and audio system enhance the user experience, making it perfect for socializing or relaxing on the water. The boat remains stable even when fully loaded, thanks to optimized weight distribution. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in 2023 in Malaga, Spain. From concept to prototype testing, the design and production were all carried out within Spain, leveraging local expertise and manufacturing facilities. The first unit was launched in April 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The hull of the One 16 is made from advanced composite materials for strength and durability. The boat is built using vacuum infusion technology, ensuring a lightweight structure while maintaining stability. Customization options, including bold colors and materials, allow owners to personalize their One 16 to reflect their individual style. Key challenges included achieving the right balance between weight distribution, stability, and hydrodynamic performance to ensure both comfort and high speed functionality. Extensive studies were conducted to ensure seamless integration and drafting between the jet ski and the hull when the pwc is attached or not.. CHALLENGE: The major challenges in developing the One vessel were related to the interaction between the jet ski and the hull. Ensuring hydrodynamic efficiency and structural integrity while maintaining laminar water flow was critical. The team also addressed the challenge of maintaining stability with a full load of passengers by optimizing weight distribution across the boat. Additionally, an open custom deck layouts adaptable to different uses.
