 PRIMARY FUNCTION:
 Event Organization Space

 INSPIRATION:
For the HKTDC Book Fair 2024, themed around Film and Television Literature, the organizer created an engaging art gallery that connected literature and film/TV. The vibrant exhibition featured iconic works from the featured writer of the year, spotlight director, and classic literature adaptations. This design highlighted the creative synergy between these mediums and invited visitors to explore narratives in a visually stimulating space. Each element was carefully curated to enhance the experience, encouraging exploration and fostering a deeper appreciation for storytelling across various formats.

 UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The 34th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair lasted seven days, featuring 760 exhibitors and a wealth of activities and interactive experiences for attendees. As a key part of Hong Kong's summer cultural scene, the fair hosted over 600 events, welcoming more than 250 renowned Chinese and international writers and celebrities. These seminars facilitated literary exchange and connected book lovers through literature and the event highlights its importance as a vibrant celebration of culture in the community

 OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The layout was crafted with dynamic, modular spaces that encouraged exploration and interaction. It started with an Instagrammable photo spot at the entrance to entice visitors. Following this, physical displays showcased books, newspapers, and collectible manuscripts, creating a rich visual experience. The journey continued with interactive elements like an e-literature game, an AI photo booth, and a mini theatre, ensuring a captivating experience that engaged attendees throughout the entire space.

 PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
HKTDC dedicated five months from project kickoff to onsite completion. The HK Book Fair successfully launched from July 17 to 22, 2024, spanning seven exciting days. Held at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai, our design transformed the venue into an engaging space that celebrated literature and community. Each element was carefully crafted to enhance the visitor experience, ensuring a vibrant and memorable event for all attendees.

 | PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To create a museum-like atmosphere for the Art Gallery Exhibition, the organizer designed informative display panels showcasing various literary authors. Interactive elements included a literature gallery game, an eBook kiosk, and an AI photo booth with their favorite book characters, enhancing their experience. A Mini Theatre with floor mounted LED screen and highly reflective flared wall design further enriched the view with classic movie scenes, blending text and imagery for an immersive experience. This fusion of visual storytelling and design offered visitors a unique encounter with Film and TV literature.

 SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The Hong Kong Book Fair 2024 offered over 55,000 sqm of exhibition space, with the Art Gallery placed outside Exhibition Hall 3C-E to attract high foot traffic. To ensure sustainability, we utilized a reusable aluminum structure alongside a modular display system and glass-top showcases. The organizer harmoniously integrated the art of Chinese calligraphy with different display systems to highlight antique books, vintage manuscripts, newspapers, and videos, enhancing the visual experience. The gallery covered 900 sqm, size 100m W x 16m D.

 RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
To effectively support the annual theme of the Book Fair—Hong Kong Film and TV literature—the organizer curated a diverse selection of display materials, including official posters and movie clips, to enhance the three thematic zones. This effort involved careful navigation of copyright and intellectual property clearance, requiring extensive preparation. Close collaboration with the event team was crucial to ensure successful licensing clearance, allowing them to create a cohesive and engaging exhibition that celebrated the intersection of literature and film.

 CHALLENGE:
In addition to the extensive preparation required for book selection and Film/TV copyright and intellectual property clearance, we faced the challenge of managing a high volume of daily visitors while preventing bottlenecks inside and outside the Art Gallery. To address this, the organizer worked closely with the special events and operations teams. Conducting a thorough traffic study and strategic layout planning were essential to ensure smooth visitor movement and an enjoyable experience throughout the exhibition.
