| DESIGN NAME: U100 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Front Windshield Protective Film INSPIRATION: When it comes to driving safety and comfort, nothing is more important than prioritizing safety. In challenging driving conditions, such as high speed travel where flying stones are a risk, rough roads lined with overhanging branches, and harsh sandstorms, the driving experience can be severely impacted, and road safety becomes a major concern. In response, U100 features an optimized structure of five layers and optical TPU, enhancing defense and visibility for driving safety. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: U100 is specifically designed as an external film for vehicle windshields. It offers exceptional scratch resistance and impact protection, delivering robust defense for windshields in challenging conditions including high speed driving, off road adventures, and exposure to flying debris. Beyond its protective performance, the film also enhances visibility for safer driving. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The film installation process is greatly simplified thanks to its fully removable pressure sensitive adhesive technology. Simply align the film with the application area and gently press it into place. No heating, wetting, or chemical treatments are required. The film can be easily removed without leaving any residue or causing damage to the glass, enhancing convenience for subsequent maintenance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The deign and development of this film started in February 2022. It was introduced to the Chinese market in June 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Made from advanced optical TPU, U100 is 6 mil thick, with a tensile strength of up to 40.78 MPa and an elongation at break exceeding 260 percent. Its outstanding flexibility and ductility allow the film to evenly distribute external forces, minimizing damage from impacts such as debris flying at high speeds. In the event of accidental glass breakage, the film, with its strong adhesive properties, can hold shattered fragments in place, preventing secondary injuries from glass splattering. Windshield damage from flying stones can lead to shattering and splattering, causing secondary injuries to occupants. Through material and structural optimizations, U100 excels in scratch resistance and impact protection, enhancing safety, practicality, and comfort for users. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to maximize light entry for enhanced interior brightness while blocking harmful infrared and ultraviolet rays to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature. With a light transmittance rate of up to 95 percent and the ability to block 20 percent of infrared rays, U100 maximizes natural light entry while effectively reducing heat penetration for a brighter, more comfortable cabin environment. It also blocks 100 percent of UV rays, slowing down interior aging due to UV exposure.
