| DESIGN NAME: The Ab

 PRIMARY FUNCTION:
 Jewelry

 INSPIRATION:
The Ab is inspired by ancient symbols, water, and ponds, rooted in Avestan spirituality and Persian tradition. While fire is a central element in Iranian culture, water holds equal sacredness. The Persians revered water for its ability to cleanse, heal, and sustain life. Ponds in Persian gardens were more than aesthetic; they symbolized divine harmony, renewal, and the eternal connection between humanity and the divine.

 UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The ring is crafted with a sense of depth from the top, featuring a polished, reflective hollow center that mimics the shimmering effect of water under light. Similarly, the bracelet possesses both depth and a luminous quality. To enhance contrast and reinforce the symbolism of the design, the outer surfaces of both the ring and bracelet have a matte finish.

 OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Both the bangle and the ring have a minimalist design. They are lightweight and suitable for daily use and different outfits and styles. Also, the bangle is adjustable for different sizes depending on its design.

 PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The main idea of the project appeared in January 2024 on a vacation to Yazd (the Zoroastrianism center in Iran). In the last week of February 2024, the designer started to sketch and research. The production process began in June 2024 and was completed by July 2024.

 | PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The process began with initial sketches, which were then digitally rendered using Matrix software. A tridimensional printer was used to create resin prototypes and prepare the mold. The next stage involved casting in 925 silver, a step that required high precision due to the substantial form of both pieces. Once cast, the finishing phase began; giving the outer surfaces a matte texture while polishing the inner sections and recesses to a glossy shine, enhancing their contrast and depth.

 RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Symbols play a crucial role in shaping beliefs and culture, as Carl Jung suggested, connecting the conscious and unconscious. Water, an alchemical element, universally represents life, purity, and spiritual renewal. In ancient Iranian and Avestan traditions, water (Ab) was revered as divine, with ponds symbolizing purification and a link to deities like Anahita. Zoroastrian texts such as the Yasna and Aban Yasht highlight the sacredness of water, purifying nature, and its cosmic role in maintaining order.

 CHALLENGE:
After researching the main idea, the most challenging aspects of production were casting and finishing. Casting silver requires high precision, especially for volumetric forms, as they are prone to defects during the process. Additionally, achieving the dual finishes (matte and glossy) demanded meticulous attention to detail to ensure a clean and flawless final product.
