| DESIGN NAME: Silver Lining PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ambient Light INSPIRATION: Inspired by the saying, "Every cloud has a silver lining," this chandelier is a symbol of optimism in high-pressure work environments. Every organization experiences ups and downs, but the key is to stay positive. This elegant piece serves as a constant reminder of resilience and hope. Its layered design mirrors the formation of clouds, capturing the beauty of nature’s own way of illustrating this timeless concept. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Silver Lining Chandelier is a sculptural lighting piece designed to symbolize optimism with clean lines and minimal decoration. Unique in its use of 13 precision cut acrylic pieces, it diffuses light dynamically, creating an effect where the source remains undetectable. Blending artistry with function, it is lightweight, low maintenance, and enhances ambiance. A dimmable option adds versatility, making it adaptable to various moods and settings—an entirely new approach to lighting design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Silver Lining Chandelier operates with a switch, activating strategically placed led modules for uniform illumination. The 13 cnc-cut acrylic sheets interact with light, creating dynamic refractions and layered shadows. Its modular composition allows seamless integration into various interiors. The chandelier creates warmth, fills the room with positivity, and serves as a conversation starter, enhancing spatial aesthetics and professional ambiance. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Silver Lining Chandelier is made from CNC-cut 12mm transparent acrylic sheets with 8W LED strip light in each piece. It is designed for optimal light diffusion. The 13 modular parts enhance refraction and shadow play. This creates a dynamic visual effect. The light source remains completely undetectable. The lightweight structure allows easy installation. It also requires minimal maintenance. Inspired by parametric design, it blends sharp aesthetics with advanced lighting techniques. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Silver Lining Chandelier measures 700mm (W) x 1300mm (D) x 310mm (H), composed of 13 CNC-cut 12mm transparent acrylic sheets with 8W LED strip lights in each piece. Precision-engineered for optimal light diffusion, its modular design enhances refraction and shadow play. The lightweight structure ensures easy installation and maintenance. Inspired by parametric design principles, it seamlessly integrates angular aesthetics with advanced lighting techniques. The transformer is concealed in the ceiling. Research Objectives: To create a positive, functional workspace that reflects transparency. Methodology: Client interviews, material experimentation, and prototype testing. Data Collection: Discussions, observations, and mockups. Results: Acrylic was chosen for its transparency and aesthetic. Impact: Improved employee morale and client trust, showcasing how design affects business and society. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was to create a chandelier that would look formal and not decorative, as it was in an office setup. Also making it conceptually strong. From a production point, I did not want the LED light dots to be visible. So we brainstormed to resolve the issue.
