| DESIGN NAME: Capsule PRIMARY FUNCTION: Modular Sofa INSPIRATION: The Capsule Sofa embodies nature’s rebirth, inspired by a pod emerging from the earth with grace and elegance. More than just furniture, it symbolizes growth, blending raw natural beauty with refined craftsmanship. Each curve tells a story of transformation, where sophistication meets organic form. A timeless piece, it brings the serene essence of nature into your home, celebrating the harmony of design and the elegance that springs from the earth. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Capsule Sofa embraces a retro-futuristic soft design language, redefining the role of its armrests as more than just structural elements. Designed for ultimate relaxation, it invites users to explore new ways of interacting with their sofa. Now, comfort extends beyond the seat, allowing you to lounge, embrace, and unwind on the armrests, making full use of the sofa's entire surface. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As mentioned earlier, the key features include the flexibility to customize the structure using various modules and the innovative armrest design, which allows you to utilize the entire sofa surface for ultimate relaxation. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in early June 2024 and the first product presentation happened at the Shanghai Furniture Fair in September 2024. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The sofa is crafted from plush soft foam and enveloped in an elastic fabric featuring a unique three-dimensional honeycomb texture, adding both visual depth and tactile comfort. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The sofa presents different modules which allow the user to build his how composition with this dimensions: 1750mm × 1250mm × 720mm, 1500mm × 1220mm × 720mm, 1750mm × 1490mm × 720mm TAGS: furniture, sofa, furniture design, living room, living collection, capsule RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The challenge began with the goal of designing an iconic product, one that defies trends and stands out from the ordinary. From the initial sketches, we explored soft, inviting shapes instead of the rigid, serious forms that dominate the furniture industry today. The color palette focused on pastel tones, with the first concept emerging in a soothing, soft pink. To emphasize relaxation and friendliness, we reimagined the armrests, traditionally structural and overlooked, transforming them into the most comfortable and inviting parts of the sofa. CHALLENGE: As mentioned before the most challenging part was designing an iconic product who can be accepted by the market.
