| DESIGN NAME: Monochrome Muse PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence Building INSPIRATION: The site is a residential building with more than 100 households. The designer's motivation is to create a different kind of living experience for the residents. She attempted to break through the framework of conventional shared facilities design and embed art in every corner of the living space. A calm gray tone is used as the base, and its inclusive nature enhances the display of artwork and sets a sensible and elegant atmosphere. The gallery-like corridor displays several large-scale artworks, bringing a visual and spiritual feast to the residents. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The lobby design blends modernity and elegance, with curved structures creating a smooth, dynamic aesthetic from the ceiling to the countertops. The arcs resemble natural eye curves, inviting people into the space as if engaging in silent conversation, sparking deep reflection. Upon entering the gray-toned space, it feels like stepping into an art museum. Artistic elements are seamlessly integrated, with eye, feather, and teardrop sculptures placed throughout the shared space, reinforcing the design's core concept and connection to art exhibitions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The animal forest theme in the children's playroom has received positive feedback from residents. Parents noted that the large windows enhanced playtime fun, while the vibrant colors sparked their children's creativity. The artistic atmosphere also fosters children's aesthetic development. The owner is highly satisfied with the design, finding it a perfect balance of practicality and artistry. They plan to use this design as a reference for future projects. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The designer used architectural concrete, eco-friendly wood, and marble as the main materials. Architectural concrete provides a rustic, natural, and modern aesthetic with its original texture and color tone. Natural wood brings warmth and intimacy. Marble on the walls and countertops of the living room adds a touch of elegance and luxury to the space. Green building materials are aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly and emphasize the designer's commitment to sustainability and unadorned beauty. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The venue has a total area of 376.8 square meters and is located on the first floor. The designer planned multi-functional shared areas including a lobby, lounge area, meeting room, gym, and children's playroom. The lobby is the center of reception and socializing, while the lounge area provides a relaxing corner. The meeting room and gym enhance the functionality of the building, while the children's playroom is a safe and fun space. Every member of the family will find a place to call their own. TAGS: Modern Art, Gray Tone, Art Exhibition, Abstract Paintings, Art Elements RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The 'Monochrome Muse' project is a shared space where color and artwork are deeply connected. The designer used a calm gray tone as the base, enhancing the artwork and creating an intellectual, elegant atmosphere. The space, resembling a gallery, features large-scale artworks, offering a visual and spiritual feast. Art elements are integrated throughout, with sculptures resembling eyes, feathers, and teardrops, symbolizing discovery and beauty. The design invites residents to experience new artistic surprises each time they enter. CHALLENGE: The venue has a six-meter-high ceiling with multiple columns and beams. The designer adopted a series of innovative solutions. To reduce the visual pressure of the pillars, the designer chose to cover them with materials of the same color as the surroundings to weaken the structure. Moreover, the designer also utilized lighting and shadow effects to subtly conceal the pillars, keeping the space fluid and unified.
