jonarmst I pre-ordered this album completely on a whim just because I had been so impressed with the Control Freak label and was not disappointed. Four tracks of eclectic techno/breaks/bass music that are all winners across the board although the echoed out dubby astronaut samples on "Obstinacy" probably make that my favorite as I'm an absolute sucker for dubby elements. Overall, killer EP.

Label co-founder Tal Fineman launches new alias Faulter with Obstinacy, a 4-track EP that showcases his penchant for cutting edge, contemporary club sounds.

Spanning a broad spectrum of energy, Obstinacy balances heads-down groove with a meticulous, measured approach to songwriting.

A record of two halves, the EP opens with two peak-time bombs designed to ignite warehouse dancefloors worldwide. First up is the unrelenting techno weapon ‘Perspectives’ (file in your wormhole playlist) followed by a slamming, in-your-face electro wobbler, ‘Data Spike’.

The ‘B-side’ shifts towards deeper shades and organic textures, with the dub techno & minimal-leaning title track 'Obstinacy' - an ideal layering tool for like-minded DJs. Finally, the EP closes with 'Zaf (Dub Mix)', a brooding, delay-laced gem that rounds out the release on a moody note, hinting at much more to come.
