about
"Death in the Family" would appear to be a tragic story, but the title disguises a whimsical number about the death of a pet frog. It began with a story from Oliver's childhood and continued with collective embellishments (it was actually a turtle, not named Emmanuel Hill). For the production, Fantasia-meets-Nilsson seemed to capture the feeling, a bit grand and sweeping.
It's also worth mentioning that this one is "from the vault," as much as can be said of a band that's existed for two years. We generally like to release things within a few months of making them, but this track we made in 2020 and couldn't find a spot for on the self-titled tracklist. We hope you enjoy!
lyrics
Emmanuel Hill hangs on the pond
Rest in my hand and sing me a song
Search through Manhattan,
Arguing back and forth
Something so small in all of the squall & storm
Baby i know it changed me
A death in the family
November, no, he’s lost in the snow
May heaven be sweet & may it be slow
Search through Manhattan,
Arguing back and forth
Something so small in all of the squall & storm
Baby i know it changed me
A death in the family
