Recorded live at the former Edwardian Chapel in Calstock , situated on the banks of the river Tamar, with Devon on one-side and Cornwall on the other. This is an attempt at recording the room as much as the song, with just the strumming of the Octave mandolin and voice.
It’a song which tries to connect past and future with a unifying message, the words are adapted from a 17th century anonymous poem and is the third song from my debut album Postcards From Lost Places, all written and recorded in and around the Tamar valley.
I understand it’s not always possible for everyone to attend these live concerts in the UK so this I hope addresses that and gives a small insight into what the songs sound like in a real live and remarkable setting.
Much love, C.
Under floods that are deepest
Over hundreds of days
Oh we’ll find our way
Through rocks that are steepest
Mountains and waves
Oh we’ll find our way
When there’s nothing to keep us
No hiding place
Oh we’ll find our way
All we are, is all we love
All we are is all we love
And it’s only from the heart that you can touch the sky
It’s all we are now
When there’s thousands around us
And so little space
When the guards are upon us
And the cowards obey
Easy to lose sight
Harder to stay
Oh we’ll find our way
All we are is all we love
All we are is all we love
And it’s only from the heart that you can touch the sky
It’s all we are
Give it up, to get it all back
Not the first time
Won't be the last
To turn in circles and turn your back
But to Give it all up, is to get it all back
