Killer doomy bluesy hard rock with old-school metal roots. Two members of the original CoC lineup recorded this in 2012, but it didn’t see the light of day till 2022, and I didn’t discover it till just now.
The fuzzy production draws your attention, but the songwriting and musicianship are exceptional and feel inspired. Groovy shit right here. Lute FP
A desire to see Psychlona led me to their gig in Bradford in support of The Obsessed. (Bloody marvellous).
So...I looked up The Obsessed (and thereafter Saint Vitus too) and I've been having a great time getting into the slow and heavy stuff so reminiscent of early Black Sabbath albums. Gilded Sorrow does the slow and heavy but also "upbeat with weight and grit," songs which sound full of lived experience and conviction.
Favourite track: Jailine. thejonx
Recently discovered this band. IF their back catalogue, is as great as this I'll be adding them to my collection.
To my ears they sound like someone has blended early black sabbath with led zepplin's bluesier albums. A much welcome trip to the 70s hard blues heavy metal. welshwizzardd
36 choice cuts - one from each 2015 LP, plus music from new signings on the mighty and 25-years-strong Relapse label. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 4, 2015
The funk and prog bits sprinkled on this big fat heavy groovy cake make it oh so tasty, and I love a good, unpretentious concept album. I'll have another slice right now, if you don't mind. Coraxio
