WOYWW

Taken on Tuesday afternoon again so maybe this should be called Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday (or Tuesday if you want to be early for the party!)
I always like to be early for everything, otherwise I get stressed, hence my Tuesday photo each week!
Today I am working on one of my 'book cards' you can see some finished ones here and here and here as this one is still a long way off yet!  I hope it will be on display at a blog near you on Sunday, fingers crossed!
I intend to make it all grungy with the stamps lying beside it like this one here.
....and my arrivals this week, I stopped myself from buying some other goodies over the last few weeks waiting for these to hit the stores.  They came into Scrapbook Steals which I couldn't believe as they were hugely discounted, a very good steal!  they are the brand spanking new My Minds Eye Miss Caroline collection.  Now I just need to get the nerve up to break into them, the first cut is the hardest!
If you haven't heard of WOYWW then head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog to find out what it is all about, hope you will join in too!  We are growing larger in numbers each week!
Thanks so much for dropping by!

Cute Card Thursday - Music

for my Whimsy Blog Hop post please click HERE
Our theme on Cute Card Thursday this week is
Music!
It is open to interpretation but some ideas are music themed papers, charms or even dancing!
We are sponsored this week by Alota Rubber Stamps.
I used the fabby sketch over at
I made another of my book cards which I always make for my children.  Have made lots of them lately as 3 of my kids have birthdays in spring!
Here is a tutorial I created a year ago for them.....Book Card Tutorial

I used the newly released Whimsy rubber stamp 'Brooklyn Babe' by Kenny K.  She is coloured with Copics and Prismacolors.
I also used the new Treasured Moment tickets from Whimsy Stamps and the new banner pennant die.  These are all available to purchase in the Whimsy online store.
You might also just be able to see the Whimsy Stamps
'music notes' background stamp, I stamped it in white and embossed it for the layer beneath the image.

The new Whimsy Stamps banner pennants die and the quote/sentiment is from the Spring seals stamp set.
I had to make a double layer of pockets as the chocolate was rather large, I chose it for its colour rather than anything else!

a little simple back detail to finish off!
other challenges I am entering with this card
Pollycraft ~ Teen card
Totally gorjuss ~ pearls and lace
ABC challenge ~ q is for quote

I hope you will pop over to see the rest the DT's fabulous musical makes, thank you so much for dropping in!

Happy Birthday Cute Card Thursday!

I cannot believe it!  It has been 3 years since we launched
We still have a good number of our original Design Team with us too which shows just how much fun it has been!  Our aim was to have a challenge that was fun for everyone and have a 'no strict rules policy', I think we have achieved that!
Can you believe that in the beginning there wasn't all this sponsoring of challenges going on and some members of our Design Team donated the first few prizes until we got around to asking companies to sponsor us?
There weren't so many challenges around back then nor were there the choice of stamps, so funny to think of now with the abundance of both!  We sometimes had to tell each other which stamp we were using in case someone else was using it too!  We did have times when we used the same one, it was inevitable.  I can't remember the last time that happened!
Anyway, enough reminiscing, onto my card!
Another book card, this one for my other son.
I used the fantastic sketch over at
designed by super talented Rach!
The cute stamp is Lily of the Valley 'Big Present'
This week we are sponsored by one of my favourite stores

It has the obligatory pocket for cash and a roll of sweeties!
I am loving these new stamps, the pennant and cupcake are from a set by Hampton Art from their cling range.
The stars are punched out with my Martha Stewart punch.

My custom made signature stamp is from Whimsy Stamps.
Please pop over and see the rest of the Design Team's beautiful birthday creations!
Thanks so much for dropping by, have a fabulous day!

Cute Card Thursday ~ Celebrations

Happy Birthday Cute Card Thursday!

It is our 2nd anniversary!
I just have to take this opportunity to say how much I love being involved in Cute Card Thursday, a bunch of us on the DT dreamed up the idea with no idea of how popular it would become! I love that most of the DT have been with us since the beginning too, we are a family not just a design team! Anyway, before the tears start streaming, in honour of our birthday we have a special theme

Celebrations!

Create a card for any celebration!

It is my eldest son's birthday this week so I have created one of my book cards, they have to be nice and wide to accomodate the packet of sweeties they have come to expect in their card, not to mention a little holder for the cash!

The images are Whimsy Stamps from the animal collection, I used the monkey and the alligator.

I am posting on Whimsy Inspirations Blog today and have shown more pictures of this card along with sizes and instructions for creating one. I made a few last year and had some requests for tutorials so this time I went ahead and made one as I went along! You can see last year's cards here and here and here! While you are there don't forget to check out Kim Piggot's amazing tutorial she created for Whimsy using glitter! I hope to try that out later this week, it looks fantastic!

My images were coloured using Tim Holtz Distress Inks which  I purchase at Simon Says Stamps - including the brand new colours which are scrummy. Simon Says Stamps are sponsoring Cute Card Thursday this week so make sure you join in with us!

I am also entering this card into the
My Time to Craft Challenge which is Kids Kardz
Creative Card Crew which is also celebrations
Die Cut Dreams which is no flowers allowed

I have compiled a mini tutorial for this card for anyone who would like to give this a try!

I used sheet of card measuring 29.5cm x 18cm or 11 5/8 in x 7 in. I scored at 5 1/2 then turned the card around 180 degrees and scored again at 5 1/2, it should leave just a thin spine.

This gives you a basic book shape.
Cut out backing card in a shade that co-ordinates with your designer papers.Add your designer paper to the backing card and decorate as desired. I used Fancy Pants 'Papa'.
Create a little money holder by cutting a piece of card to 10cm x 7cm or 4in x 2 3/4 in
Score at 1/2 in around 3 sides as shown.

Cut the corners off at diagonals and punch a half circle in the top edge.

There are various ways to add a packet of candy, for this card I used a narrow plastic packet and made a fold over top for it. I used the Stampin' Up slit punch to create a slot to tie it to the card. I could have attached the string directly to the back of the card but for this one I made a small card attachment and stapled twine to it.
Now, decorate the money holder and stick down using the flaps.

I also like to decorate the back page, it finishes off the card perfectly.

Supplies:
Stamps ~ Whimsy Stamps 'alligator' and 'monkey'
Stampin' Up 'snowboarder'
Basic Grey ' archaic'
Designer Paper ~ Fancy Pants ' Papa'
Colouring ~ Distress Inks 'Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Peeled Paint'
Tools ~ Scor-pal

Spoonful ~ Buttons Galore!

I was honoured to be asked to be a Guest Designer for A Spoonful of sugar this week by Karen who very kindly brought us some sunshine back from her holiday in Spain last week, thanks hun!
The challenge theme this week is Buttons Galore! The DT cards are amazing and they have a fantastic prize to be won!
I made another of my book cards, this time for my daughter, the first time I made a girly one. She loved it! Her eyes lit up when she saw it!
She especially loved the little bag of sweeties!

The images are the fabulous Sugar Nellie 'Sweet and Sassy' and 'flowers' designed by Elisabeth Bell!

The papers are Basic Grey 'Lily Kate' and Doodlebug

The sentiment is a Basic Grey rub-on

I created a little box to attach so that the sweeties had a little holder.
Make sure you don't miss Spoonful next week as it is their blogaversary so lots of exciting things happening!

Think I covered all supplies but any questions just shout!
I am back in the garden today, just loving the sunshine, lots of jobs to do out there but they are never a problem if the weather is good! Hope you are having great weather too!
Have a fabby day!

Cute Card Thursday ~ Getting Edgy

First of all I have to thank everyone who left sweet messages for me following my mishap! It is healing well but stitches aren't out until monday now! It is feeling better though and I am managing to create with the other 3 fingers and thumb! I had these images coloured up from last week but hoping to try colouring later today! This card is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge, I must say a huge thank you to Andrea for stepping in and writing up the post for me to give my finger a break! (Hopefully she will be tempted to come back full time..hehe!)

The theme this week is 'Getting Edgy', you can distress, tear or sew your edges.

I love this challenge, it was one Lynn set before her break!

Hopefully you can see all the distressing and I managed to do a little tearing inside!

I am also entering this card for the Truly Scrumptious challenge, the sketch is amazing, so many layers, just the way I like them! The theme is also to make a card for a child! Whimsy stamps is sponsoring the challenge, you could win a fabulous Whimsy stamp and sentiment stamp set.

I used my Whimsy Kids Collection Baseball Connor, the larger size is on the outside and the regular is on the inside. I think it is so cute to use both sizes. You can still get the larger size Baseball Connor for a limited period and at a discounted price over at the Whimsy Online Shop!

My son chose the sweeties he wanted in his card so the fold was measured accordingly! The little envelope holds some money.
We have a fabulous prize over at CCT this week generously donated by Lisa from C&T Publishing!
We have the very talented and sweet Marcea as our Guest Designer for the next 2 weeks!
Please check out the rest of the Design Team's fantastic cards, they really are amazing!
Supplies: Stamps ~ Whimsy Stamps ' Baseball Connor' large and small sizes,
DP ~ Basic Grey 'Archaic'
Embellishments ~ Basic Grey rub ons, BAsic Grey Archaic brads,

Happy Birthday Cute Card Thursday!

Exciting things going on over at Cute Card Thursday today! It is our first birthday!
We have a special sketch to follow designed by super talented Katharina and it is also a Celebration theme!
*****************
We decided to give CCT a face lift for our birthday! Lynn and Jo from Siggi Shop have been working so hard all week to make the blog look super duper for today! Well, it is only right that it dresses up for its birthday!
We have an amazing line up of prizes from our fabulous sponsors

I just had to make one of these special book cards for my son's birthday. He loves to go ski-ing so this Edwin was just perfect!
Katharina's sketch is a dream to use and take a look at the rest of the DT cards they all look so different, it is amazing how many ways you can use the same sketch. Must admit I did switch the image and the sentiment around to suit my purpose!
We have a very special Guest designer this week, lovely Marlene returns for one week only with a beautiful card! We were thrilled when she agreed to return for our bithday week!
I kept the inside very similar to the last one I made, just added a sweet little verse and this time I left the jelly beans uncovered as I really like the colours! I used the little pocket to add some cash and my son's eyes lit up and he announced it was cool!
Of course, now all the kids have spotted this, they all want a little pocket in their card with some cash in! I've really started something now!

Supplies: DP ~ Basic Grey 'Archaic'
Stamps ~ Magnolia 'Edwin ski-ing', Basic Grey 'Archaic', SU 'Circle of friendship'
Embellishments ~ eyelet and twine
Tools ~ sewing machine, cuttlebug, nestabilities
