the old maple outside my room that stands between me and the street, that got struck by lightning, left me a piece of its split and downed limb. This is a graphite rubbing, that suggests to me, enclosures and hills, entire micro-landscapes wihin the 'nap' of the bark. And I like the slightly doubled quality, which recalls the telegraph, or a stutter.
