For centuries, Native Americans made hot water cornbread by simply mixing cornmeal and hot water together and then frying it in bacon grease or lard that was melted down into hot oil. The cornbread was often served with beans and rice. Today, I am sharing two different hot water cornbread recipes: an original Native American hot water recipe and my own old-fashioned hot water cornbread.
