Eastern Prickly Pear Indian Fig (opuntia humifusa): A native cactus found in parts of eastern North America. It ranges from Montana eastward to parts of the southern Great Lakes, and in the dry coastal sand dunes along the eastern seaboard from the Florida Keys to coastal Connecticut and Long Island, NY and westward to New Mexico. The flowers are yellow to gold in color and are found along the margins of mature segments. They are waxy and sometimes have red centers and bloom in the late spring.
