Avank is a mythical creature in Welsh mythology. According to some sources, it looked like either a huge crocodile or a giant beaver, and according to others, it looked like a hybrid of a crocodile, a gnome, a demon or a beaver. According to the myth, Avank lived in a pool called Llyn-yr-Avank near Beths-y-Coed on the River Conwy in North Wales, although other sources say that he lived in Llyn Llion or Llyn Barfog, near Brynbury Bridge. He was dragging livestock under the water.
