A former SAQA board member, she has written many books on African American-made quilts and is an authority in the field. Her keynote speech will deal with how to avoid stumbling blocks to a successful career as an artist from a curator's perspective.

Kathleen Loomis - Presenter: Why Working in a Series Works. An award winning quilter whose work has been exhibited around the globe, Kathleen Loomis is also an author and workshop teacher. Kathleen believes strongly that working in series is the mark of a serious artist, and when the next work proceeds from what has come before you get better results than if you start anew every few quilts. She has made almost 40 quilts in her "fine lines" series, and is not done yet.
