Passenger Seat

Well i slipped out on a rainy day My feet upon the pavement seemed to say That there was something I’d forgot And the buildings leaned in close To hear the whispers of the ghosts Of every drop And the windows resonated Glassy-eyed and understated A man opened his umbrella on a step Gazing out into the grey Of yet another rainy day He may forget But it’s in the water, it’s in the wind It’s in the way we begin to see To see each other And the puddles turned to rivers I felt a shiver At the thought that I could up and wash away I’d be clinging to the railing With a raincoat for a sail Hoping to stay afloat long enough to tell the tale Hmm, and still the thought That there was something I’d forgotten And my feet came to the pavement once again I turned myself back homeward With the sure beat of a shown card Just to see if you would kiss me in the rain Kiss me in the rain It’s in the water, it’s in the wind It’s in the way we begin to see It’s in the water, it’s in the wind It’s in the way we begin to understand There is never going to be another moment like the one at hand

Caught in a daydream Oh, where I’m chasing my life Staring out from the passenger seat With the scenery flying by I look to my left Just to see who is at the wheel But I never recall their face so well As the way that it made me feel To be… holding off the storm clouds singing out so loud suspended in time So free, captive of the headlights Driving till the sunrise Just to see a glimmer in your eyes Crack in the window Oh, how the air rumbles in Swirling around the passenger seat Pounding waves upon my skin But I’m lost in a daydream Or maybe I’m losing my mind I can’t help but feeling more alive Every time that I close my eyes To be… holding off the storm clouds singing out so loud suspended in time So free, captive of the stage lights Or maybe it was a sunrise, Maybe just a glimmer in your eye Lost in a daydream Or maybe I’m losing my mind Staring out from the passenger seat With the scenery flying by I look to my left Just to see who is at the wheel But I never recall the face so well As the way that it made me feel

Quiet Ways 05:12
I’ve been sitting alone with these thoughts for so long I don’t know what to think Settled in, said and done, we‘ve been sailing along But I’m starting to sink Now the same light that wakes me just comes to unmake the bed the harbinger of day, comes to break it instead And the silence resounds with things better unsaid how I love your quiet ways But now I’m on fire Won’t you bring words like water? And it’s down to the wire You could say anything… On these days when I’m down The world keeps spinning around Pulls the sea to the sand And I’m combing the beach For something within my reach That’s still out of my hands And the same light that wakes me Just comes to unmake me Cast on these shores by the night that forsakes me Howl in my ears, it’s the silence that breaks me How I love your quiet ways But now I’m on fire Won’t you bring words like water? And it’s down to the wire You could say anything… Oh that you love me even though you don’t understand When I’m caught in a wave, swimming for land, taking your hand Won't you bring words like water? You could say anything... I’ve been sitting alone with these thoughts for so long I don’t know what to say Yet a world set in stone will still turn itself around Each and every day

Standstill 05:15
The wind blows the other way And it’s hard to leave or stay And it’s harder everyday at a standstill And the wind blows the other way And it’s harder everyday It’s hard to leave or stay at a standstill

Count to Ten 03:43
Strange how our time passes by Moments like birds taking flight Flutter in breathless suspense Close your eyes Count to ten And how sweet the time when you’re near And how sweet the sound to my ears And how dear the sight of a friend Close your eyes Count to ten Oh, catch a breath and take it in Oh, let the world slow its spin Oh, and the sun comes shining in When I think about you That I could tell you just how bright you shine Blowing little sparks to the dark corners of my mind The kind of light that sends shadows dancing Close your eyes Count to ten
7.
There’s a different moon Shining in an old, familiar room Lighting up the walls as they talk amongst themselves I’m dusting off a song that I’d left up on the shelf But I don’t know what I’m looking at Oh, I only see the silhouette When my eyes start to strain I let the song take the rein Like an old, familiar friend taking me by the hand Pull me in from the blue Like a wave to the moon Or just an old, familiar tune played out by the band My heart in bloom Beating like a drum, open like a wound Skipping like a child, sitting in my room Breaking like a smile Staring at the moon But I don’t know what I’m looking at When I only see the silhouette And that’s how it begins A bit of light breaking in Like an old familiar friend tapping on my window Come on out, come and play It’s a beautiful day And if you’ve nothing to say We can just wave hello
8.
Holding it down to your letter Back when you knew me better Who I was, I can’t forget her But it does no good to let her Tug on my memory’s hem Waiting on the world to end I was tearing out the pages of your book The narrative crumbled and the ground shook Oceans were rising to the treeline Yeah, you’re still going to feel it if you won’t look Turning your head again Waiting on the world to end Thinking it over Pulling the binding threads Every story begs the same question “How’s it going to end?” And when it’s over Won’t it just start again? For all that we went through We never knew we were waiting on the world to end Thinking it over

I’ll tell you something you don’t know Truth is sometimes I get so low When the twilight fades to blue I need something to pull me through And I get so low, hmmm So show me some kind, some kind of thrill I got nothing but time to kill Seems like some days fall of the tracks I need a new way to get myself back And I get so low, hmmm So tell me something, tell me something good Come on, honey… you know I wish you would Show me some kind, some kind of thrill Cause I got nothing but time to kill And I get so low, hmmm
10.
Honey, can I come along with you? I love it just to sing along with you It’s a pretty day and we could take a ride Rolling through the leaves on the shady side Hmm-hm-hmm-hm-hmm hmm-hm-hm-hm-hm Started out slow and I don’t know when Everything started moving by so fast But I know we got something, gonna make it last So many people to be and now it’s pulling me apart I would split myself in two before I’d be the one to break your heart So honey, can I come along with you? I love it just to be alone with you It’s a pretty day and we could take a walk Draw a little game with a piece of chalk Take the afternoon just to play pretend Make a pretty picture and jump right in Nothing really ever seems to go as planned But nothing else matters when you’re holding my hand And it may seem as though I just can’t keep my feet upon the ground But I would do most anything not to be the one who let you down So honey, can I come along with you? I love it just to sing along with you It’s a pretty day and we could take a drive I love to see you singing on the driver’s side Hmm-hm-hmm-hm-hmm hmm-hm-hm-hm-hm Started out slow and I don’t know when Everything started going by so fast But I know we got something gonna make it last When I’m in so deep over my head I feel I’m going to drown Well, I would swim this sea of blue not to be The one who let you down
11.
Take my hand in you hand Honey, bring your lips to mine I want to drink you in like wine In the middle of the day We may be dreaming our lives away But when you look me in the eye There’s nothing more to say Losing our pretenses Looking through a new lens I don’t think I’ve forgotten How to make an entrance Take down your defenses Let me in again If you could see yourself the way I see you Would you feel happier? And know that you are enough? If I could see myself the way you see me Would I feel happy? Would I feel loved?
