Troubadour 03:39
Troubadour I'm a troubadour, I don’t live anywhere Each place I lay my hat I call my home Yes I'm a troubadour, if you've a bed to spare We can kiss and cuddle all night long And when you wake up in the morning I’ll be gone. I used to have a family, I was the favourite son Everything went wrong when music came along I left to get a record deal when I was 21 Me ma said ‘Watch out son, they're gonna burn you!’ I had a girl in Waterford across the Irish sea And when I went away she said she’d wait for me But now she has another man who's twice as big as me! So there’s another place I can’t return to ‘Cos I'm a troubadour..... If I had a pound for every town That I have chanced along I'd be the richest man who ever sang a song But what’s the use of money When you’re always on the run? Besides you need a lass to help you spend it. There was a girl in Darlington Who really caught my eye And I'll not tell a lie, she made me swoon and sigh! But then she mentioned marriage, boys and that's the reason why Two months down the road I had to end it. ‘Cos I'm a troubadour ..... So you can shout your favourites out And if I know the tune I'll happily oblige and we can raise the room But if you never fill my glass I won’t be back here soon So landlord 'do the honours' I've a thirst on! And thank you very kindly all for listening to my tale About the happy Irish boy, the one who got away But I’ll have to leave the rest of it until another day There's a train leaving soon I’ll be the first on! 'Cos I’m a troubadour......

Missing 03:41
Missing Today I’ll buy some things that I’ll never use and do some things that I’d never choose to do If I wasn’t missing you So I’ll go and sit on benches where we used to sit I’ll reminisce and drift a bit and think of you Because I’m missing you And I’ll watch birds wheeling in the sky Warm air taking them higher And I’ll feel the sun upon my skin But I won’t feel a fire within I’m cold inside now I’m missing you Today I’ll ride out to that small cafe The one we really liked - tucked away And the people we knew there will nod and say ‘How are you?’ and I’ll mumble ‘I’m o.k.’ But I’m not o.k., I’m missing you If only the sea could capture me If only the sun could bring me back again Re-package my hopes for the future Bring me a sweet consolation While I am waiting for you to return I took a train and somebody spoke He was charming and he ignited my hopes That all was not dead in this heart of mine It’s just…….missing I gave him my number, he said he’d call And I felt a spark and yes it was small But maybe in time, if the stars align Maybe one day Maybe not soon Just maybe I’ll find I’m no longer Missing you.

This Affair 03:33
This affair In this affair You've been keeping me at arm's distance Used all your resistance and used your seduction too To draw me back Each time you withdrew In this affair I felt the clouds breaking But now the plans I've been making Shatter each time you say "no" So tell me why You still can't let me go? Is it the way I look at you, Staring into your very soul? Tell me oh tell me that you'll let me see What you keep inside Let me open you wide and set your spirit free Let me open you wide and set your spirit free Let me open you wide Is it the way I look at you? Haven't we been this place before? Didn't we both live out our favourite fantasies? When you opened me wide and set my spirit free When you opened me wide and set my spirit free when you openfd me wide In this affair you've given me so much How I've trembled at your touch Longed to hold you against me Though there were times you resented me Re-living your memory of someone I've never been! I want to take you to a different place With light and space And watch the dawn of a new day Hey, hey! What do you say, will you come with me? Come with me Come with me What do you say? Come with me......

The Earth Beneath The Flowers When the fading light of evening falls gently on my face And the silhouettes of seagulls paint the shoreline My mind returns to you and the things we used to do Running, laughing, splashing in the sunshine When the hazy days of summer stretched before me endlessly And I wondered how I'd fill those empty hours You'd knock at my door and we'd head off to explore The earth beneath the flowers Oh gentle breeze of memory wash over me Oh give to me a purpose to eternity Oh give to me a reason why I love you Was it impulse, was it it lust? Was it because at last I found someone to trust? When the fading light of evening falls gently on the blinds And I draw the sunset's rays inside to warm me My mind returns to you But there's one thing I can't do Is bring you back into my arm to love me Oh gentle breeze of memory wash over me Oh give to me a purpose to eternity Oh give to me a reason why I loved you Was it impulse, was it lust? Was it because at last I found someone to trust? And when it's over, when it's done And we turn our faces to the sun When our last race is run We can admit then we had fun Didn't we? So much fun, didn't we? Fun! Thank you darling…….

Low Key Prostitution Low key prostitution Gonna sell my soul for a fist full of dollars And no real retribution Just a low key acknowledgement of people I'm impressing! By ignoring my reality Hiding the truth that I'm constantly running from Hiding what I believe in Too scared to see, too scared to be Someone out there on their own Someone who does not agree with Low key prostitution... They think I'm inner-circle that I can be trusted to keep my mouth shut They buy my silence They keep me sweet, their scam complete They don't think I see their greed They don't know that I'm a freak! Low key prostitution.... I hide it well, l don't want anyone to know (The person that I used to be seems so long ago) I was so willing to believe I was hungry and so lost I didn't know what the cost would be of my Low key prostitution..... I hide it well I don't want anyone to know I'm secretly working for another kind of goal Something that one day will heal my splintered soul Leave this sham behind And lead another kind of life But I don't know when I can start again so until then There'll just be low-key prostitution…..

Two Bluebirds Life is good all happy Peaceful in its own way You're over them at last It's a new day Chorus: But then something happens You're triggered by a memory The smell of fresh-made coffee Two robins in a cherry tree And then it all comes flooding back You’re transported to a time when you felt life was finally on track And all your dreams were coming true And you wanna go back But to no avail That boat has sailed! So you pick up the pieces Patch up your broken heart Resolve to never walk on that tricky tempting path But that day is gone You must move on But then something happens Somebody that you chanced to meet Yeah No touch, no word just one look Powerful to knock you off your feet And then the dance begins again New love makes new pathways in your brain You're happy just walking in the rain But this time everything has changed It's not the same It's not in vain You sip your tea And watch..... Two bluebirds in an apple tree……

Somebody 05:22
Somebody I saw you today in the papers A beautiful girl by your side I was reading ‘bout your latest capers And your sold-out tour, worldwide I admit my heart jumped when I saw you And now I can’t get you out of my mind Is that so wrong, when I am the one That you loved and then left behind? Chorus: If I could have been somebody A neat beauty queen, or somebody If I could have been somebody I’d still be with you. I was thinking about how I met you I knew you when we were in school And some of the things that I let you do Well I didn’t mind breaking the rules But your eyes were fixed on the horizon And you left, carrying your guitar I always knew your dreams would come true You’d be this country’s next superstar And it was hard to let you go Hard for me to know that you were moving on Without me Now the years have come and gone I settled down in this sleepy town No-one but you knows about me I’ve got a ticket to see you tonight In a show being made for TV And there’ll be a beautiful girl in the wings Waiting for you And it won’t be me And there’ll be a hush as you start to play And I’ll be taken back in time And we’ll sing along to the song you wrote For someone you loved and then left behind

about

True to form, Claire delivers another album of “stand-alone songs” which, while branching into a more rock-influenced sound, remain true to one constant: lyrical, well-crafted pieces that intrigue, delight, and showcase her unique voice.

Producer Sonny Flint had recently moved to Claire’s hometown and was introduced to her by Mark Chatterton, biographer of Wishbone Ash. They met at Sonny’s studio, Swift, and agreed to collaborate on an album, bringing in musicians Sean Elliott and John Nicholls to see what they could create together.

The result is a collection that blends Irish-influenced folk, prog-inspired rock, and sweet, uplifting songs from the heart. Would you expect anything less? Of course not!

We hope you enjoy this next step on an exciting musical journey…
