However, this heavily ribbed heirloom beefsteak tomato variety from the Tuscany region of Italy is one of my staples. That’s because it’s a very heavy producer, is good for canning and preservation and is just an all round great looking tomato that adds character to any plate.   Here in the UK I grow it as an Annual plant, but I keep a couple of the best looking fruits to save seed for the following season. Start with sourcing out your seeds and seed starting medium.
We love using equal parts of coco coir and worm castings because they can retain water really well and ensure the seeds get the moisture needed to start germinating.

Use a clear cover and place in a warm spot. Use a heat mat if needed. The cover and warm temperature will create a humid environment, ideal for seeds to germinate. Remove the cover when seeds have sprouted.

Using a grow light can make a big difference. When seedlings have sprouted, they can be placed under a grow light for a minimum of 12 hours per day.
