Rainbow Unicorn Card (IC #12)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, interactive, Rainbow Unicorn Card. :o)

I made this Interactive (IC) FRONT AND BACKS CARD for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

This is a twelfth  type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

To make this card I used super adorable Goebie Design 'Unicorn Against a Brick Wall' digital image. LOVE!!! :o)

How I made my card...

I made a layout on my computer and printed the image directly on a Kraft cardstock card base, on front and back.

Prior I printed the image on the Kraft cardstock, I made printing test to see if I like the layout and if the image is aligned front and back. I used white printing paper, which is much more cheaper than the Kraft cardstock or any other cardstock or paper. I prefer to make printing tests whenever I use digital images on a one layer card, just like on my today's card.

After printing, I left the card base aside for a day to let an ink dry completely to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

colored the image with various colored pencils. When I was satisfied, I colored Unicorn's eyes and drew white highlights with a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

Rainbow Unicorn Confetti Launching Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight + IC #9)

Hi everyone! :o)

I hope you're all enjoying the weekend and having a great time. :o)

Yesterday was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I shared this Rainbow Unicorn Confetti Launching Card:o)

This is a CONFETTI LAUNCHING CARDI made this Interactive Card (IC) for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

This is a ninth type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

To make this card I was inspired by wishes of my niece Nika (5). Prior her birthday (in March) she asked for a card that has an Unicorn, Rainbow colors, blue and/or pink colors in abundance, as that are her favorite colors, and it had to shake or throw confetti. :o) Task successfully completed. She was overwhelmed. :o)

I used stamps from two BEAUTIFUL Jane's Doodles stamp setsUnicorn and Magical, and tiny heart dies from 'Stinks' dies.

How I made this card...

stamped an adorable Unicorn on a watercolor paper and watercolored it using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the Unicorn and traced edges with black marker.

stamped one more Unicorn on a white cardstock paper, colored it with black marker and fussy cut it, this time leaving white thin border around the Unicorn.

glued both images together, the watercolored Unicorn over the black one. I did this because the watercolor paper I use is very thin and I needed thicker image for my card.

I drew sparkles on the Unicorn with a white gel pen and a white pigment ink pen. To do so, I was inspired with my own card made last year during my personal challenge (here), originally inspired by amazing coloring by Marika Gewalli (here). :o)

With the image ready, I worked on a card construction.

I prepared a white top folded card base, a rainbow patterned paper panel and two white cardstock paper panels. I glued the rainbow patterned paper panel on the front of the card base. I stamped a sentiment 'Make a Wish' on one white cardstock paper panel and glued it on the card base, over the patterned paper panel. I glued some 3-D foam on the Unicorn and glued it on the card base front.

Then I stamped a sentiment 'Happy Birthday' on the other white panel and glued it inside the card.

I didn't stamp sentiments perfectly and I don't have any stamping tool, so I fixed the sentiments and fill tiny gaps with a black fine liner. :o)

Next up was a confetti flinger. I saw at  Jennifer McGuire how to assemble the confetti flinger (here). I don't have dies Jennifer used to make the confetti flinger, instead I drew my own confetti flinger template. I didn't manage to draw the template on a computer and to share it with you, but you can find great tutorial on how to make confetti flinger (from start to beginning, including template) on Karolyn Loncon blog. Mine template is a bit smaller.

Following my template, I made the confetti flinger from the white cardstock paper and a tiny envelope from a vellum paper. I assembled the flinger and glued it inside the card. Then I glued tiny envelope on the flinger. I tested the mechanism, but it didn't work so well. The vellum paper I used was not thin enough and confetti didn't launch. As I didn't have any other thin paper in my stash, I curved envelope edges a bit, to leave some open space on the envelope. I tested the mechanism again... successful. :o)

With the mechanism working properly, I could make the final steps. I die cut bunch of tiny hearts from the patterned paper scraps and the white cardstock paper scraps, filled the flinger envelope with confetti, set the flinger and closed the card with a tiny clothes pin, just to ensure card won't open until birthday girl opened it. :o)

Here is a short video of confetti flinger in action. I don't have movie editor option to make slow motion video, so I'm sharing it with you as it is. :o)

Rainbow Unicorn Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #128)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Friday! :o)

My second post today. If you missed the first one just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #128 - Fairytale/Fantasy.

We have two sponsors for this challenge: Bugaboo Stamps and Fabrika Fantasy, so there will be double prizes! :o)

I'm a huge fan of Fairytales, Fantasy and Magical World, so this was a perfect challenge for me. And here's my take on the challenge: Rainbow Unicorn Card. :o)

Yes, today is all about the rainbow here on my blog (check my first today's post). And dimension. LOL :o)

For my card I used sponsor's Bugaboo Stamps 'Sweet Unicorn' digital image and a sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'Magical' stamp set.

How I made my card...

First I made a layout on my computer. I moved the unicorn up and down, here and there until I was satisfied. Then I printed the image three times: one on a watercolor paper, second on a white cardstock paper scrap and third directly on a card base. I left images to dry over the night.

Next day, I prepared cardbase first. I folded the base in half, stamped the sentiment on it and colored the image with black marker (this gives extra shade to pop up images).

Then I fussy cut the image printed on the cardstock scrap (all except butterflies), colored parts with black marker and traced edges with same marker.

Next up was the image printed on the watercolor paper. I colored the image in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut all pieces, traced their edges with black marker and softened each piece on a soft working mat using stylus ball (this adds a bit of extra dimension to images).

With all my pieces ready, I started gluing everything down. I love dimension on my cards. I like to use various thick foam and other techniques to achieve different levels of dimension and to give something special to my CAS cards. :o)

I glued tiny butterflies directly on the card base and other colored pieces (unicorn and clouds) on fussy cut pieces colored in black. I glued a ladybug on the cloud directly on the cardbase. I glued 1 mm thick foam on the tiny cloud, glued 2 mm thick foam squares on the unicorn and glued them on the card.

As a finishing touch, I rounded two opposite corners of my card with a rounded paper puncher and colored all tiny dots with fine liners. :o)

I'm very satisfied with my card. Look at all different dimension levels!! LOVE!!! I might do this for a bigger, wall version. :o)

Card measurements: 95 mm x 133 mm (3 3/4" x 5 1/4")

Sparkly Rainbow Unicorn Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight + RCC #13)

Hello everyone! :o)

This is my second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Sparkly Rainbow Unicorn Card.

For my card I used stamps from an ADORABLE Jane's Doodles 'Unicorn' stamp set.

How I made my card...

I stamped an Unicorn on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the Unicorn, traced edges with black marker and softened him with a stylus ball on a soft working mat.

I stamped another Unicorn on a white cardstock paper, fussy cut him out, leaving white border around him, and glued colored Unicorn over him.

I drew sparkles on the Unicorn with a white pigment ink pen. To do so, I was inspired with AMAZING coloring by Marika Gewalli of Craftybit Creations (find it here)Thank you for the inspiration, Marika!!

Next up was a background. I placed a starry stencil on a white cardstock paper panel and spread a white structure paste through the stencil directly on the panel. I left the structure paste dry on air. As the stencil is smaller than the panel, I repeated the process until I achieved enough starry background. :o)

After the panel dried completely, I glued it on a white top folded card base and glued another white panel inside the card. I heat embossed a sentiment in white on a black cardstock paper, cut a stripe, glued foam tape on the back of it and placed the sentiment on the card.

I love dimension on my cards, so I glued some foam on the Unicorn too, placed him on the card and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

Jane's Doodles Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone! :o)

Welcome to a Jane's Doodles Release Blog HopToday we are featuring ADORABLE new stamp set released into the store, Unicorn. Love!!! :o)

For today's Blog Hop I made this Follow Your Dreams Card.

How I made my card...

I stamped a sentiment, Moon, stars and Unicorn on a watercolor paper panel and colored the background in watercolor technique. I stamped more images on a different watercolor paper, colored them in watercolor technique, fussy cut them out and colored all edges with black marker. Then I glued the panel on a card base and glued colored images on the card using different thickness 3-D foams and glue. I wanted different levels of dimension on my card.

Lastly I drew black frame around the scene I created and my card was finished.

Techniques: stamping, watercolor, fussy cutting, doodling
Dimensions:  101 mm x  133 mm (4" x 5 1/4")

At the bottom of this post you can find all supplies I used for making this card. :o)

Last week I was staying at my parents in Ivanić-Grad. I took 'Unicorn' stamp set with me so my nieces Tea (6) and Nika (2) could play with these adorable stamps too. Tea stamped her own scenes and colored them with colored pencils and distress inks. Nika told me what and where to stamp for her (unicorn which she called "horsey") and she colored him with colored pencils.

Nika (2)
