Elegance to Cherish

I found two challenges that I thought would mesh
beautifully for an elegant wedding card! The Friday Mashup challenge is"feeling the love" and Liliana has given us a great sketch with a challenge to mash it up with hearts.  On the Shabby Tea Room challenge blog, the theme is elegance with inspiration from this gorgeous photo and the direction to use the color scheme and a flower on our creation.

So...this is what I came up with...

I love this elegant paper from Kaisercraft's Chapter One 6x6 pad.  The rhinestone/lace border is in a sticker format from Prima Marketing - so easy to add to a card!  I had bits and pieces of SU's glitter CS leftover from winter snowflake projects and they were perfect to cut these little hearts using Verve's "From the Heart" die.  Ribbon is PTI's Fine Linen satin ribbon.  The sentiment is from PTI's Tag It #12 stamp set.

Friday Mashup Challenge & HYCCT

I'm playing along with the Friday Mashup Challenge...
  1. Make a project with a "Christmas Ornament".
  2. Or make a project with some "Sparkle".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Christmas Project with some Sparkle"

And...I'm playing along with BevMom's HYCCT challenge to "Shine it Out"and use lots of sparkle!

I used Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday layout and tweaked it a bit. The layered flags on the top left of the sketch were not balanced with my larger ornament, so I moved the ribbon flag to the right.

PAPER: Carta Bella "Christmas Day" pad, Vintage Cream

Artful Whimsy

It's been far too long since I've played along with the Inspiration Challenge on SCS! I decided to remedy that by going to the Artful Whimsy website that Stef has given us for our inspiration source.  I loved the collage pendants with the birds and nature theme seen HERE so went with a bird-themed collage card.  I'm also entering this into the Friday Mashup Challenge where you can use birds on your card, use the sketch, or "mash it up" and use both.

STAMPS: Nature Walk by SU
PAPER: Butterfly Garden Collection by PinkPaislee, Vintage Cream, Chocolate Chip
INK: Memento Rich Cocoa
ACCESSORIES: Prima, Copics, Bermuda Bay grosgrain ribbin (SU), Peach ribbon.

Pinwheel Scrapling

**Please scroll down for my Raise the Bar post**

I haven't played in the Friday Mashup Challenge for a long time, so when I saw their challenge to use scraps to create a scrapling, I knew I wanted to play!  I already had these papers on my desk from a previous card, so I went with the blues and yellows from the Buttercup pad by Lily Bee Design.  I wanted the pinwheel to be the focal point and added a hand crocheted flower (made by my mother) and a filigree brad to the center.  The sentiment flag and the pinwheel die are all from 'Lil Inker Designs.  I also made this for Wendy's Free 4 All Challenge over on SCS - to create a congratulations card for a graduate without using a cap or diploma image.

I'm heading off to work shortly...looking forward to a weekend off!  Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Mashup & VLV

Scroll on down to the 3rd post today to find my Raise the Bar challenge card! The Bar-tenders are back from a summer hiatus...check it out and play along!

I discovered a new Friday challenge through a stamping friend, and decided to play along this week. It's called Friday Mashup and you have the option to create an anniversary card or a card using glitter or you can "mash it up" and use both! My only glitter is in the brad, and the sentiment is a tiny heart tag (LOVE those mini PTI tag dies!) with simply "love you" stamped on it. I felt this card would be quite appropriate for an anniversary card, but could also be given to anyone you might want to convey this thought to. I stamped the BG in Stazon Cotton White...again using this scrollwork stamp I had out from an earlier project. The sketch by Andrea Ewen is for the Viva la Verve Week #2 challenge on the Verve forum. Loved the simple layout...needed something simple for a busy time of year!

What else did I use?
STAMPS: Bloom & Grow (Verve), Artful Elegance (Verve), Tiny Tags (PTI)
PAPER: Concord Crush (SU), Spring Moss and Kraft by PTI, White
INK: Old Olive, Concord Crush, Stazon Cotton White
ACCESSORIES: Glitter brad by Recollections, Flower & leaves dies by Verve, Martha Stewart deep edge Garden Gate punch, Concord Crush ribbon (SU), Tiny Tag heart die by PTI, Oval Nesties.

Red, White & Blue

This is a weekend of recognizing & celebrating our country's independence, so a number of challenges are promoting this theme. My card is for the following challenges:
Card Patterns Sketch
Our Creative Corner - use either 4th of July or Christmas in July theme.
Friday Mashup - use red, white & blue OR use a patriotic theme OR mash it up and use both.
I used direct to paper technique and applied red and brilliant blue ink to the stamp, then stamped on rustic cream CS. I ran it through the Big Shot using a stars EF. A very quick and simple card!
STAMPS: Grunge Cirque by Tim Holtz
PAPER: Yankee Doodles by We R Memory Keepers, Rustic Cream (PTI)
INK: Real Red, Brilliant Blue
ACCESSORIES: Ribbon, Star button, Stars EF by Sizzix.
