Color Challenge

I wanted to play along with the Color Challenge on SCS after seeing Joyce's posting of these lovely spring colors: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz with the dessert option to use flowers.  I used non-SU colors that were in the same family: Tumbled Glass distress ink for the watercolor BG and Cockleshell and Beanstalk dye inks by WPlus9.  I cut three of the 'happy' dies and layered them to give better dimension.

STAMPS: Bitty Bouquets (florals) and Wet Paint (sentiment) by PTI.
PAPER: Sno Cone by MFT; True Black by PTI; Neenah Solar White.
ACCESSORIES: Circle Scribbles die, Wet Paint die, and Bitty Bouquets die by PTI; Stitched rectangle die by Lil' Inker Designs; Sprinkles (lily white) adhesive dots by Doodlebug Design.

It's another rainy day in Virginia, but I'll take that ahead of the white stuff!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by...

Fusion meets CC

Just had to play along with Peggy's gorgeous color palette for the SCS Color Challenge: Cherry Cobbler, Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow.  I skipped the glitter dessert option simply because I forgot it - lol!  I watercolored with Mustard Seed distress ink then stamped images with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive inks. I love the matching dies to this newly released Floral and Flutter bundle by Concord and 9th. I attached them with a tiny glue dot so the edges could be curled up. Sentiment is by PTI (Wet Paint stamp and die set). The houndstooth BG stamp is by MFT and the punched border is by Martha Stewart. The sketch used is for the current Fusion Card Challenge.

Psalm 3:3

Karen has chosen some beautiful colors for the SCS Color Challenge: Watercolor Wonder, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive.  The dessert option is to use an oval on our card.  I chose distress inks that were closest to the SU colors - Abandoned Coral, Broken China, Peeled Paint - and did a watercolor background on the oval.  I dug WAY back into my vellum archives and layered the patterned vellum oval on top.  I stamped the Verve Plain Jane sentiment (Psalm 3:3) in Memento Tuxedo Black then clear embossed it.  I watercolored the Prim Poppy Memory Box die cut from Ranger watercolor CS then layered it over the Poppy Stamps large Marianna Vine Background die. The stitched oval and rectangle dies are by Lil' Inker Designs.

SFYTT & Color Challenge

It's time for another Color Challenge on SCS and this week, Maura has chosen Real Red, Marina Mist and Night of Navy.  The dessert option is to use enamel dots, candy dots, or sequins. I'm using the layout for Jen's Sketch For You To Try for June - a really fabulous sketch!  I really intended to go patriotic with my card theme, but guess my packing for beach vacation influenced the nautical stamp set - Happy Harbor - to be chosen instead!  Papers are from the Yankee Doodles 6x6 pad by We R Memory Keepers.  I layered the red die cut panel over silver foil CS, so the stars really do shine depending on the angle of the card in the light.  The lighthouse was silver embossed, fussy cut and popped with foam tape.

Dies: Stitched Rounded Rectangle STAX Die-Namics by MFT; Stitched Circle die by Lil Inker Designs;Double Banner Garland and Stars Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts by Reverse Confetti.

Color Challenge

Peggy has a beautiful color combo for the new Color Challenge on SCS - Blackberry Bliss, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder - with the dessert option to add stars.  This is my second week as their guest designer and I went with stamps from 3 different SU sets: Tape It, Perfect Pennants, and Gorgeous Grunge.  I like using these images whenever I want to create a collage style design because they mix and match so well. The banner sentiment and the larger Pool Party star were both fussy cut.  The smallest star was stamped then punched with SU's smallest star punch. A scattering of SU rhinestones were the finishing touch.  Easy peasy card!

Floral Thanks

A quick post with a card for the SCS Color Challenge and the Retrosketches Challenge! Colors are Lost Lagoon, Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz.  Dessert is to use flowers but they can't be stamped.  These papers from Authentique's Radiant Collection were really close to the SU colors and I was eager to use them.

DIES: Circle Scribbles by PTI, Wet Paint by PTI, Layered Leaves by MFT.

Watercolor Valentine

I LOVED the Color Challenge on SCS to use Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Old Olive with a dessert of layers using 4 or more! I'm also playing along with the Retrosketches Challenge - what an awesome layout! I used the "smoosh and fling" technique (as I lovingly call it) for my background.  One of my faves to create a fun, watercolor look!  I smooshed Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers distress inks on my craft mat then spritzed some water over it.  I placed watercolor paper face down and turned it...dabbing color on it here and there until I was satisfied with it.  After it was dry, I "flung" some Heidi Swapp gold color shine on the panel.  Easy peasy way to get an artsy look!  Then it was layering time.  Since I had the gold splatters, I gold embossed the sentiment on vellum and used a gold button embellishment.

Here's what I used:
STAMPS: Crushin' by Reverse Confetti.
PAPER: Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Tim Holtz watercolor paper, White by PTI.
INK: Versamark, Peacock Feathers and Peeled Paint distress inks by Tim Holtz.
ACCESSORIES: Stitched rectangles, scallop border and hearts by Lil Inker Designs; Arrow Confetti Cuts die by Reverse Confetti; Heidi Swapp gold color shine.

Christmas Tags

I was in Christmas gift wrapping mode this morning and needed some tags! I checked out the Color Challenge on SCS - Soft Sky, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive - and went with that color palette. I used 3 different WPlus9 stamp sets: Merry and Bright, Just Geometrics: Triangles, and Ink Splats.  I just love the depth of the two and three step stamping on the flowers and pine boughs!  The tag dies and floral matching dies are also from WPlus9 (just love their trendy designs!).  Quick post here...gotta run to the post office and also need another gift card...or more. :-)

Color Challenge

Vicki has some great colors for the Color Challenge on SCS: Gumball Green, Marina Mist, and Midnight Muse with the dessert option to use either a die sentiment or a large word stamp. I'm whittling away on my Christmas card list, so brace yourself for an upcoming onslaught of Christmas cards!  It was near 80 degrees today and is to be that warm again tomorrow.  Really hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit when it's that warm!

I stamped the grunge BG first then added the pine branch die (Impression Obsession).  I "hung" a couple of ornaments (Ornament Keepsakes by SU) and added the merry die cut sentiment (PTI) and stamped "Christmas" from WPlus9's Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set.  I'm trying to make two of every card I make at the suggestion of Jennifer McGuire.  While you have your supplies out, might as well double up on each element and you'll get your stash doubled in no time (or that's my hope).

Thanks for stopping by...it's the wee hours of the morning, so this gal needs to get to bed.  'Nite all!

CAS(E) this Sketch

Becky has some beautiful colors for the SCS Color Challenge (Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon).  I skipped dessert (which was to recycle something on the card) and went with the layout for the current CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge. I love playing with the 3-step stamped images in Altenew's Painted Flowers stamp set.  The sentiment is a PTI die that coordinates with their Text-Style "Wet Paint" set.  I scattered a few Winter Blend sequins by Avery Elle for a really quick card.

Thanks so much for stopping by....I am sadly coming to the end of a 3 day weekend off work.  It's back to work time this afternoon.

(CAS)E This Sketch & CC

This CAS card is for the current (CAS)E This Sketch challenge
and it meets the Color Challenge on SCS where Mary has given us 7 color choices and we can use all 7 or just 3. Since I didn't have Island Indigo or Lost Lagoon, I went with two shades of blue plus the yellow papers from Authentique's Bundle pad. The quatrefoil die over the base patterned paper is from PTI.  The flower is an MFT Die-Namics die and the leaves were using Verve's Sprightly Sprigs die set.  I kept it generic and will add a sentiment to the inside as needed.

Tag, You're It!

I decided to combine two challenges by combining the colors for SCS Color Challenge (Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight) with the first Tag, You're It Challenge with Virginia Lu as the guest designer. I was thrilled to be named the winner of their mini tag challenge last week during their kickoff of the new challenge blog...thanks ladies! You can click on the winner tag icon in the right side bar to see my winning entry. Back to the current tag... I was inspired by Virginia's vivid colors, floral backgrounds and rainbow colored sentiments in her tags. Loved playing with this new (to me) set from WPlus9 called Coming Up Roses.  I wet the tip of a black watercolor pencil then swiped a brush over the tip. After getting the brush loaded with color, I tapped it against the pencil and splattered tiny dots over the tag background.  Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!  I always enjoy your visits!

STAMPS: Coming Up Roses (WPlus9)
PAPER: Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, White
INK: Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
ACCESSORIES: Traditional Tags STAX Die-Namics by MFT, Small hello die by Simon Says Stamp, Burlap ribbon by SU, Jute twine, Black watercolor pencil, Brush.

Color Challenge

A quick and easy card for the Color Challenge on SCS: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight. The dessert option is to choose any 4th color of our choice. That was easy...I needed a green for my leaves in this fun new SU set - Kinda Eclectic - the first one I ordered from the new SU catalog. I stamped the dots twice with one inking so that it would have an ombre look.  The leaves were fussy cut after I stamped them in Lucky Limeade - my color of choice.

Color Challenge

Vicki has some great summery colors on the SCS Color Challenge: Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Garden Green. I wanted to practice watercolor wash backgrounds, so chose distress inks that were similar in color.  The colors reminded me of the sea, so I went with this retired  Old World Map stamp by SU and stamped in Versamark, then embossed with clear EP.  My new love is the Happy Trio dies by WPlus9...so easy to add a bold sentiment without covering up much of the background!  There you have it...a masculine birthday card that's quick and easy!

STAMPS: Whole Lotta Happy (WPlus9), Old World Map (SU).
PAPER: Ranger watercolor sheet, White, Black.
INK: Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint by Tim Holtz, Black Licorice hybrid ink for the sentiment by MFT, Versamark.
ACCESSORIES: Baker's twine, Charm by Martha Stewart, Happy Trio die by WPlus9, Fishtail Flags
Die-Namics by MFT.

Retro Sketch Meets CC

Sallie has a great Color Challenge on SCS: Marina Mist, Always Artichoke and Pistachio Pudding with a dessert option to use die cuts.  I used multiple dies from WPlus9 and always love arranging the tiny floral and leafy selections from the Fresh Cut Florals set.  I had to sneak in the wee pop of Crushed Curry in the one flower to warm things up a bit.  :-)  I'm also playing along with Arielle's latest Retrosketches Challenge - based on one of Kasia's cards.  Love the CAS layout!

STAMPS: Fresh Cut Florals, Just Geometrics: Triangles, Strictly Sentiments - all by WPlus9.
PAPER: Marina Mist, White.
INK: Marina Mist, Always Artichoke, Pistachio Pudding, Crushed Curry, Versafine Onyx Black.
ACCESSORIES: Stripes EF by SU, Fresh Cut Florals dies by WPlus9, Fishtail Flags Die-Namics by MFT.

Fusion Sketch & Color Challenge

It's a br-r-r-r kind of day with temps in the single digits this morning!  While still in my jammies, I headed to my stamp room and created this card using Karen Barber's awesome colors for the Color Challenge over on SCS - Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, Island Indigo with the dessert option of using pearls!  I combined it with the sketch from the current Fusion Card Challenge.  I'm still struggling with lining up the stamps for the 3 step stamping that happens with PTI's Delightful Dahlia and the Delightful Dahlia Additions stamp sets.  I think I mastered the large dahlia, but the smaller one still needs practice.

STAMPS: Delightful Dahlia (PTI), Delightful Dahlia Additions (PTI)
PAPER: Authentique "Pride", Island Indigo, Raspberry Ripple, White
INK: Not Quite Navy (closest I had to sub for Island Indigo)
ACCESSORIES: A2 Curved Borders One by SB, Pearls, Doily by SU, Leafy flourish Die-Namics by MFT, Dahlia dies by PTI.

Sweet Baby

I thought Vicki's colors for the SCS Color Challenge (Tempting Turquoise, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe) would work well with these banner flags from SU's Hearts a Flutter set.  The matching Framelits dies were also used.  I punched holes in the corners and then threaded a needle with Calypso Coral baker's twine and wove them together.  The white BG was embossed using Cuttlebug's Charles EF.  I didn't begin with a baby card in mind, but the center banner reminded me of a bib, so I went with the sweet baby sentiment from SU's Itty Bitty Banners set - also with matching Framelit die.  Thanks for stopping by...be sure and check back tomorrow for a new Color Throwdown challenge that I'll be hosting.

Peace Birds

I'm using a flipped version of Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge along with Peggy's Color Challenge on SCS to use Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Crumb Cake with the dessert option to repeat something. In my case, I die cut two sentiments and layered them for a shadow effect. I used two different embossing folders for the background and added some Groovy Guava grosgrain ribbon which is a slight shade darker than Crisp Cantaloupe.  The entire card is 5 1/2" square.  The image was colored with Copics and highlighted with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

STAMPS: Snow Wonderful (Flourishes)
PAPER: Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake, X-Press It Blending Card, White (PTI)
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
ACCESSORIES: Classic Keyhole Template die by Flourishes, Peace sentiment die by PTI, Grosgrain ribbon by SU, Brads by Recollections, Basket weave EF by Lifestyle Crafts, Holly EF by Cuttlebug.

Seizing the Sketch & Colors

Hey, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike...do you know what day it is? It's hump day - lol! Yes, that
cheesy Geico commercial makes me laugh every time!  Sorry...I digress.  When I saw Peggy's colors for SCS Color Challenge (Gumball Green, Smoky Slate and white), I let out a SQUEEE and thought it would work well with a new oak leaf stamp and die set by Tim Holtz.  I am using Stacy's great layout for Seize the Sketch #4 - am wanting to use that one again and again!

I really love the way you can layer up this leaf and can't wait to try a fall version!  I stamped the leaf twice then die cut the left half and popped it with foam dots.  I sponged with Smoky Slate ink and added the fine splat stamp (stamped off once) from none other than my go to set at the moment - Gorgeous Grunge by SU.  Love these tiny wood veneer stars by Studio Calico...fun to randomly add to a card!

STAMPS: Leaf Blueprint (Tim Holtz), Gorgeous Grunge (SU)
PAPER: Plumeria (BasicGrey), Gumball Green, White
INK: Smoky Slate, Gumball Green
ACCESSORIES: Stitched Scallop border by Lil' Inker Designs, Wood veneer stars by Studio Calico.
