Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop Challenge

I'm joining in with Papertrey Ink's blog hop this month and am using their freebie stamp set that came with my December order! I love the loose design of the images and was inspired by the stripes, black and white dominance and hints of gold in the photo. I also went with the cake theme since I'm needing quite a few birthday cards at the beginning of this new year.

Here's what I used...
STAMPS: Your Beautiful Birthday (PTI).
PAPER: Bitty Big: Smokey Shadow patterned paper (PTI), True Black, Sweet Blush, White (PTI).
INK: Sweet Blush, Bright Buttercup (PTI); Versafine Onyx Black; Versamark.
DIES: Pierced Feature Frames (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
MISC: Gold sequins, Gold cording, Rose Gold embossing powder by Altenew.

PTI Blog Hop

Fall is in the air and this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop is noting that point with its great inspiration photo filled with plaid and the traditional autumn color palette of orange, gold, brown and green!  I grabbed a sheet of plaid paper from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid 6x6" pad as my starting point.  Since I don't own many fall PTI images, I went with their Holiday Greens stamp set and paired it with the rustic Mix and Mat: Plaid Die set.

I used the following distress oxide inks to stamp the images: Spiced Marmalade, Frayed Burlap, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Peacock Feathers.  The MISTI is the perfect tool to get the images centered over the die cut pieces.  I highlighted the pine cones with a Zig clean color brush marker to give them added dimension.  I kept the sentiment very minimal by using PTI's Tiny Tags stamp/die set.

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop Challenge

I'm joining in on the fun for PTI's June Blog Hop Challenge! Check out this rainbow assortment of fruits and popsicles in their inspiration photo! Cool...right?

Well...now imagine those popsicles melting in the hot sun and you end up with something similar to the background of my card...achieved with alcohol ink blending!
(Smile)  The images were white embossed with Altenew's Pure White EP.

What did I use?
STAMPS: Butterfly Folk (PTI), Direct Messages (PTI).
PAPER: Sweet Tooth, Sour Apple, Ripe Raspberry (MFT); Yupo.
DIES: Butterfly Folk, Direct Messages (PTI); Stitched Rectangle Die-Namics (MFT).

PTI April Blog Hop

Check out this lovely inspiration photo for the April Blog Hop on the Papertrey Ink blog!  Who can resist the aqua/pink/white color palette with touches of gold?!  Not me!  My mother and MIL are no longer living, so I'm not needing any Mother's Day cards for my personal use, however, I got requests from co-workers for cards, so this is my first creation.

It was the perfect excuse to try out this new Shape Shifters: Square 1 Die from the PTI April release...love it! I paired it with their Beautiful Berries: Spring stamp/die set and the sentiment is a mix of the Wet Paint 'happy' die and the white embossed 'mother's day' stamp which I cut apart from their Blooming Button Bits set. The card base is Aqua Mist by PTI.  I incorporated some gold by using sequins.

Helpful hint with white embossing: No matter how hard I try to prep the CS by using a chalk buddy and then I often take a brush to clear some stray flecks of powder off the paper, I will often find a tiny fleck that gets inadvertently embossed where it shouldn't be.  The trick is to take a black gel pen and lightly cover the white fleck.  So simple, yet it took me awhile to figure that out - lol!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

We Love You Dawn! Blog Hop

Many Papertrey Ink fans are participating in a special We Love Dawn blog hop today as we cheer on, pray for and celebrate Dawn McVey! Dawn - a longtime design team member for PTI - recently received a special organ transplant after a very LONG fight with health issues!  In spite of her long struggle, she remained so upbeat and inspiring as she shared her journey through social media posts!  Her creative talents have resulted in numerous stamp sets and dies for PTI and we were to use something she designed in our creations.  I used her Cover Up: Diamonds background stamp and paired it with her Delightful Dahlia Additions stamp set.  I sponged 4 Reverse Confetti inks on the background: Bumblebee Yellow, Lime Green, Tangerine and Iced Aqua which creates a subtle rainbow.  The dahlias were layered using 3 ink colors from RC: Buttercup, Sunshine and Rust.  I used a Copic Multi Liner pen to add tiny black dots to the floral centers.  The card base is PTI's Harvest Gold cardstock.

DIES: Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics and Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things. Delightful Dahlia dies by PTI.

Dawn, we hope you feel the love if you are reading this post!  ((Hugs))

May 2017 Blog Hop

Welcome to the PTI May 2017 Blog Hop! We were given this photo for our inspiration and I must say...the colors were very different from my norm!  I loved the watercolor look to the inspiration florals, so went with distress inks for the majority of my stamping. I used the 'rock and roll' technique so I could get two colors of ink included on the leaves.  The sentiment was white embossed using Stampendous detail white embossing powder.

So...here is my take on it...

STAMPS: Bitty Bouquets (PTI), Garden Grace (PTI).
PAPER: Not Quite Navy (SU), Ranger Watercolor CS.
INK: Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Milled Lavender, Picked Raspberry, Tattered Rose distress inks by Ranger; Crisp Cantaloupe by SU; Versamark.
DIES: Stitched diagonal strip by Lil' Inker Designs; Bitty Bouquets by PTI.
