Queen Charlene

Trish has a fun challenge for this last of the year Queen for the Day Challenge on SCS! We are to look at the year's list of queens and find the one that was closest to our birthday and CASE a card from that queen's gallery.  LilLuvsStampin (aka Charlene Merrick) happened to be queen exactly on my birthday - April 12!   Charlene also became a dirty girl this year, so I had a tough time narrowing it down to a single card to CASE, but finally went with this beautiful CARD in pink and green...one of my fave color combos!   I loved her bold pop of black in the ribbon, so kept that element.  Instead of a prima, I made a flower using the Rose Creations dies from Spellbinders, sponged the edges with Cameo Coral and Sage Shadow - two retired inks by SU.  Papers are from MME's "Market" pad - mounted on a Vintage Cream base.  Sentiment is from Verve's "Lean on Me" set. Once again, I'm honored to celebrate Charlene as my birthday queen!

Pleasant Words

**This is my second post for the day...please scroll down for my Raise the Bar card**

I've become so annoyed and disappointed at all the people who have been voicing "less than pleasant words" over the past weeks and months, and am hoping words will become "more pleasant" from now on! :-)  The Queen for the Day on SCS is the sweet and talented Angella Crockett!  I loved chatting with her when I was a guest designer for Our Daily Bread Designs and knew that I wanted to use their stamps when I did a CASE of Angie's card HERE. I colored the daisies with Copics and fussy cut them out.  I felt the image needed a vase, so I used SU's ornament punch and simply cut off the pointed bottom.  A little sponging with Daffodil Delight ink helped define it better.  This is also for the Free 4 All challenge to use a bee theme and/or use black and yellow (I decided to use both!).

STAMPS: Daisy, Honeycomb Background, Little Things - all by ODBD.
PAPER: Victoria Gardens by Echo Park, Black, White, X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Daffodil Delight.
ACCESSORIES: Ornament punch (SU), Die-Namics Fishtail Flags STAX by MFT, Copics.

CASEing Joanne

***For my Raise the Bar card, please scroll down to the next post***
Today's queen for the day on SCS is the talented Joanne aka jojot!  Some trademark characteristics in her gallery is her use of red/black/white colors and the corner rounder, so I knew I wanted to include those elements in my card.  I chose this card to CASE and changed up the die shape, the image and layout a bit.  Had to keep the plaid (had one small piece remaining...((sob)) and the poinsettia die...my fave Christmas die!  I sponged the leaves with Old Olive ink and the poinsettia with Riding Hood Red ink.  I hand cut the layers around the keyhole die...would love to see Flourishes add some nesting sizes to this great die shape! (hint, hint)

STAMPS: Snow Wonderful by Flourishes.
PAPER: Jovial pad by BasicGrey, Black, Red, White, Old Olive.
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red.
ACCESSORIES: Poinsettia die by SB, Classic Keyhole die by Flourishes, Scallop border Die-Namics by MFT, Corner rounder, Black brads.
COPICS: R22, R27, YG93, YG95, YG99, E23, E25, C0, C2, C3, YG0000

Viva la Verve & CASEing Cathy

I wanted to play with the CAS Viva la Verve Challenge that Janelle posted on Friday and was trying to come up with something for inspiration. That's when I remembered that Cathy McCauley (aka cathymac) is this week's queen for the day on SCS, so I went to her gallery, and WOW, what an incredible gallery it is!  She has so many wonderful cards, but the card HERE is what triggered my plan for my card. I loved the green gingham checks for the BG and the way she stamped her sentiment right on the DP!  I've had these cameos from Webster's Pages for quite awhile, so the small oval element in the sketch was just the cue I needed to use one!  Since the DP had stitching as part of the pattern, I stitched around the edge of the gingham panel.

We had a gorgeous day in VA today...sunny...not too hot... a slight breeze...just my perfect kind of day of weather!  Hope your corner of the world was good to you today as well!

STAMPS: Because of You (Verve)
PAPER: "Vintage Marketplace" Bazzill Basics Paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
ACCESSORIES: Silhouette by Webster's Pages, Banner die by 'Lil Inker Designs, Rhinestones.

Sweet 'n Sassy Butterfly

This was a CAS card I created yesterday for the Queen For The Day challenge on SCS. Korin Sutherland, owner of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, has the honor of being queen stamper, so I knew I wanted to ink up this great butterfly image and sentiment from her Everyday Miracles set.  I used a stipple tool to dot some Basic Gray ink then stamped an image from SU's The Art of Life over it.  This created the BG for the fern die from Spellbinder's Foliage set.  The butterfly was colored with Copics, sprayed with Dazzling Diamonds glimmer mist then popped on foam dots.  The white panel was die cut using a new Romantic Rectangles Nestie.  Easy peasy!

I'm going to leave you with this thought...
We need one another because..."Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow."  Ecclesiastes 4: 9, 10
