OVERVIEW

INCREASED PERFORMANCE VIA THE NEW HEXAPEC™ SKIN.

Sidekick Tool approached us with a unique challenge: to create a new design language and add smart functions to their existing product, Flux. We were excited to take on this task and worked closely with the Sidekick Tool team to develop a brand-new skin and user interface that reflect their brand identity.

The Sidekick Flux is now wrapped in our custom APEX trigger point layer design, which provides a more effective and comfortable massage experience. The new hexagon-shaped pattern on the surface of the product reflects the Sidekick Tool brand identity, with sharp points that allow for targeted power and deeper massage on sore muscles.

In addition to the new design, we also upgraded the user interface of the Sidekick Flux. The more dynamic image provides users with a better understanding of the product’s capabilities and functions. We replaced the existing 9V DC adapter with a USB Type C connection, making it more convenient for users to charge the product. Finally, we left four hexagon-head screws visible to give the product a powerful and rugged appearance.

At CURA DESIGN, we believe that design should not only be visually appealing but also improve the functionality of the product. We’re proud of the work we’ve done with Sidekick Tool and believe that the new design and smart functions of the Sidekick Flux will exceed the expectations of users.

APEX TRIGGER POINT LAYER

When tasked with redesigning the vibration ball, we conducted extensive interviews with professional athletes to understand their needs. Our research revealed four essential purposes of the massage ball:

Relaxing muscles and ligaments
Reducing stiffness and restoring range of motion
Improving blood flow and circulation to targeted areas
Reducing or preventing the effects of Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)

The athletes we interviewed emphasized the importance of relaxing trigger points faster, more deeply, and with less discomfort.

TARGETED MUSCLE RELIEF

To address these needs, we developed the Sidekick Flux-2 with our custom APEX trigger point approach, which locates and relaxes trigger points faster, more deeply, and with less discomfort. Our design features three unique vibration settings ranging from 2000 – 3600 RPM, plus a fourth variable intensity Pressure Wave mode, allowing users to target their muscles with the right intensity every time.

We also incorporated a new skin design, inspired by our research and athlete interviews. The Sidekick Flux-2 features a sleek and modern design, with an emphasis on targeted muscle relief. Our custom hexagon-shaped pattern reflects the brand identity, with sharp points that exert targeted power for a deeper massage on sore muscles.
