Bees love snowdrops and are a valuable flower in the midst of Winter. Plant these flowers in your bee friendly garden!
Did you know that bees use the position of the sun to navigate? The bees have been navigating their way over to dandelions all day today. . Let dandelions grow. Bees, beetles and birds need them. Dandelions are demonised as one of the most annoying weeds, but hold back on the mowing and you’ll find a whole range of garden wildlife depends on them for food. Dandelions are rich in both pollen and nectar.

Our Cotoneaster is absolutely buzzing today attracting large variety of pollinators including honeybees, bumblebees and wasps! These hundreds of tiny flowers offer pollen and nectar for the bees. Here is a picture of one of the honeybees enjoying these tiny flowers in our Gwenyn Gruffydd garden this afternoon #NationalGardeningWeek 🐝🌻🌼
Bees are also so vital for the preservation of ecological balance and biodiversity in nature. Here is one of our bees enjoying the hawthorn, a fantastic flower providing us with a great honey flow at the moment.
Borage (Borago Officinalis) looking stunning in our bee friendly / wildlife friendly garden. We've never tried eating them ourselves but the delicate star shaped blooms are edible and apparently have a subtle flavour similar to that of a cucumber 😋🐝.
Pink Cosmos 🌸 Probably one of our favourite summer flower here at Gwenyn Gruffydd. So easy to grow, the flowers attract a variety of benefitial insects like butterflies, hoverflies and of course bees including honey bees. They also make a good cut flower 🌸🌸🌸.
