Palampores - %
Palampores-a type of bedspread produced using a mordant-dye technique a chemical dye binder which helps fix the dye within the cloth with the help of a chemical reaction between the mordant and the dye. Palampore were complex scenes depicting flowers (usually a central flower-and-fruit bearing serpentine tree) and certain animals (horses, elephants and peacocks were a hit) that were hand-drawn by the artist with a special pen containing the mordant, using a high quality cotton or linen fabric.
