The Disco Garden on Instagram: "Trellising can completely transform the vibe of your garden space. Some plants don’t just love it—they need it! So why not have fun with it? Amy Powers on Instagram: "Late winter early spring is when we prune our panicle type hydrangeas: lime light, quick fire, strawberry vanilla are examples. These are the hydrangeas with the cone shaped flowers. - 1st remove all the thin unproductive stems. Anything thinner than your pinky finger. - while you were removing the thin stems look for any other stems that are wounded where the bark has rubbed off. That’s a potential for disease. - next look for any crossing branches that could cause a wound. Remove one of the two crossing branches. - then look down the center of the plant and make sure there are no branches crossing through the middle of the plant. We want an open center plant where nothing is crowded and crossing. - on the healthy remaining stems, we only take a third of the len

Lara Winter on Instagram: "🌸 I'll be attempting a bigger structure this spring, so keep following to see what it is🌸 But for now: If you want a fully covered sweet pea tent this summer, you can start your seeds in late Feb/early March. What you’ll need: 7ft (~215cm) bamboo canes (I used 9) String A bit of compost A variety of sweet pea plants (approx. 16) Some pre grown runner bean plants (I used 4) Some pre grown pea plants (I had 3) How to do it: • position the bamboo canes making a tent shape and tie together at the top. Mine were about 35cm apart. • push the ends of the canes into the ground (around 10cm deep) • dig a circular trench and mix a bit of compost in with the soil • Tie the string: - Starting from the top at one side of the entrance opening, I wound the string around e

Pinnacle hydrangeas bloom on new wood so they can be pruned anytime between full dormancy which means it’s consistently under 32° at night through early spring. The easiest way to prune is defined last year‘s growth and count 3 to 4 buds up from the Y. Prune right above the-bud. Next cut out all branches thinner than a pencil, unless the plant is less than a two years old. If you have a young hydrangea, you’ll just want to use your judgment and create structure with the thickest branches. If you do not know what type of hydrangea you have, comment “VARIETY”, and I will send you my reel on how to identify your hydrangea. #paniclehydrangea #hydrangeaqueen #hydrangeapaniculata #hydrangeapaniculata Pufferfish Hydrangea, Puffer Fish Hydrangea, Pinnacle Hydrangea, White Hydrangea Landscaping, Paniculata Hydrangea, Hydrangea Types, Hydrangea Pruning, Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea

Serena Young on Instagram: "Be kind my first ever voice over attempt! 🤪 You realise you won’t shut me up now 🤣 My sweet pea growing frame which will be going up early March. 🌱 I use 8 foot long bamboo canes, I found 6 foot too short, the sweet peas flopped over at the top, place the same number each side opposite each other and tie each pair together with garden twine/string, place one bamboo cane across the whole top and tie in securing the whole frame. I plant two plants per cane. Sweet peas love lots of water and feed, I use liquid seaweed fertiliser from a watering can once a week. Hope this is useful! Enjoy your day! 😁"

Haley | Edmonton Flower Farm and Florist on Instagram: "Full disclosure, I use a computer for pretty much everything except for my field map. Something about having the flowers laid out in front of me in this way, just makes sense to me. Here are some things to consider when you’re laying out your garden or field: 1) Tall plants will shade your other plants depending on where you put them in the garden. For example, Orach/Atriplex gets very tall, so I put it an area of the garden where it doesn’t shade any other plants, or only shades the plants that don’t require full sun. 2) Plants like Didiscus and Scabiosa get stems can be pretty unruly, so I put them in the same row so that I can net the entire thing. 3) Some plants get extremely bushy, Cosmos for example, so I put them next to
