Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter and is considered one of the most influential figures in Western art history. Van Gogh is known for his vibrant color palette and expressive brushwork. He struggled with severe poverty and mental health issues throughout his life. During his career, he produced around 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings. Some of his most famous works include "Starry Night," "Sunflowers," and "Portrait of Dr. Gachet." Although Van Gogh did not achieve commercial success during his lifetime, he gained immense fame and recognition posthumously.
