Daniel Menche: On Location Noise and Drones

Recorded live and alone inside a gigantic concrete bunker room and also at another time and place inside a large metal container. Strictly live “as-is” recording with no effects or overdubs. One single speaker was placed in the middle within these rooms while I mixed pure oscillator drones and noise throughout the space.There were two stereo boundary microphones that I held and walked around the spaces going straight to recorder.

"Concrete Room" was recorded live on Saturday Aug 27, 2022 at the WW2 bunkers in Cape Disappointment, WA

"Metal Room" was recorded live on Aug 20th, 2022 inside a large metal shipping container in Portland OR

Mastered in the analog domain at Stereophonic Mastering.
Very little EQing and noise reduction was utilized.

Accidental photo was taken by Daniel Menche at the place of recording inside the Cape Disappointment bunker.
