‘Spring’ is a surprising left turn from a producer who cut his teeth making maximum impact dance floor groovers. The introspective new direction was inspired after Dan relocated from London to Devon where a newfound feeling of escapism and an appreciation for nature allowed him to experiment with his own sound more than ever before, including using his own vocals at the forefront for the very first time.
Speaking on the track, Dan Shake explains: “Usually when I’m touring I am making music in between shows, inspired by the clubs or festivals I had just been to, however I made this track mid-lockdown, recently having moved from London to the middle of nowhere in Devon. My headspace was in a completely different place… surrounded by nature and silence. The freedom of time also gave me a chance to experiment a little more; using my own vocals for the first time, creating more abstract synths, recording field noises etc.”
