The song “Rolexxx” is about people who define themselves by what they have rather than who they are. It is written from the perspective of a self-confident black woman who is not impressed by prestige and mere appearances.
The song is the third single from Da Cruz's album “Som Sistema” (Boom Jah Records/Believe), which will be released on January 23, 2026.
With her new album, Mariana Da Cruz traces her African and Brazilian roots. But she does not do this by reflecting on musical traditions; she does it by drawing on the latest developments in modern black music.
The spectrum ranges from South African Gqom to Brazilian Baile Funk to Caribbean Shatta and various styles of new African club music. There are traces of Angolan Kuduro and Brazilian Trap. Da Cruz has used these elements to create a self-sufficient, contemporary Brazilian music with song character and a distinctive message.
