Flowers mid month WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month, we would love to see your cards with the theme chosen by Hilary of

Flowers

Our prize this month is a £25 store voucher from Personal Impressions (inc pps, winner meets costs of any additional spend). Personal Impressions is one of the UK’s leading brand managers/wholesalers/distributors in the arts and crafts industry, specialising in mixed media, papercrafts, card-making, scrapbooking and journaling. PI are proud to represent over 70 brands from global, recognisable brands to small, niche and new.

My second card for the Flower challenge has Poppies. I thought of the yellow Welsh Poppy, for a change. Especially as the card is for a friend of mine in the USA. I stamped the main image in a bright yellow and stencilled on a second layer with a slightly darker yellow. Then stamped the stem and details onto the lower layers in green.

I was then stumped, so I thought I used a die for my first card, I would look for another, and found a die I haven't used before. I cut it, it didn't cut the centre of the die, but I persisted and after putting it through at least 10 times, with varying weights of paper. I doubled some 300gsm card and put it through again, which worked. So frustrating, but it's a beautiful result. I'm glad I persisted, and hopefully I'll remember next time to use a heavyweight card, just for the centre. My boards are straight, so it wasn't that. Anyhow, I cut a piece to add to the card and decided to frame it. After more use, I think my poor Grand Calibur is on its way out, I've had it so many years. 😞

Next was to stamp the sentiment and die cut it. Before putting, it together, I decided to add to the yellow theme by adding a strip of ribbon. I don't mind it shows through the die. After completion, I added some gold gems.

I thought, seeing as it's a Flower theme, I would show you photos of the garden borders this week.  It all looks so lovely. I hope you don't mind my indulgence, hubby deserves praise for his work.

Fav stamps/add lace or ribbon WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month, we would love to see your cards with the theme chosen by Cathy of

Fav stamps/add lace or ribbon

I don't know which of my stamps are favourite, but I really like this set, I've not used it much though. For some reason I thought of stamping on ribbon, I tried it years ago, and it wasn't successful, my mind works in strange ways, and things pop up.

Anyhow, I tried it on blue hessian kind of ribbon, a complete fail, I tried it on brown hessian, another sort of fail, I tried embossing in white on red ribbon, I got too much antistatic powder which didn't want to be removed. So, I looked for a paler ribbon and found pink, then thought, pink and gold are a lovely match. That's how this card came into being.

I stamped the ribbon and embossed in gold, then stamped the card, so that the complete stamp was visible when the ribbon was placed onto the card. I stamped other images and a sentiment, all from the same set on a piece of white die cut card.

Next I found an embossing folder that fitted the stamped layer, after embossing I rubbed over the same ink I had coloured the flowers on the card. The embossed layer was attached onto a piece of card, then inked around it in the same ink. They were all layered.

The ribbon was attached to the top layer, matching the stamped image. I felt it needed something else to balance it, so I cut more ribbon and folded and glued it onto the side edges. The top layer was 3D'd onto the embossed layer. A die cut butterfly was added, coloured in the same colour.

Christmas Bells

Hi Everyone, I was looking through my photos and realised I hadn't posted this card. So here it is.

The stamps are by Altenew, "Bells and Boughs". The sentiment is Colorado Craft Co. Both freebies with my subscription magazine. I used Distress Inks, the images were layered onto red mirror card. I die cut the ribbons from the same red mirror card. I made it in September, so can't remember the colours I used.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Birthday Rose

Hi Everyone, a card from me today for one of my Niece's, it was quite simple, due to reasons I shall expand on below. It was made with 2 sets of dies and a stamped sentiment. I really haven't been in the mood for card making and only doing DT cards as far in advance as I could.

rose die - Altenew
inks - Distress Inks
border die - freebie with Johanna Sheen magazine 2017?
sentiment - magazine freebie
red card -  Hobbycraft

I feel I have to explain, why I have been absent from commenting and only doing my DT work. Aprilish to July, I had a limp, getting worse, I put it down to sciatica. One night, I turned to get into bed and was hit by the most excruciating pain. To cut a long and very painful time short, it turned out to be arthritis in my hip, and what was described as a "grumpy femoral nerve", which means the pain goes from my waist to below my knee. Meaning a referral for a hip replacement. I was lucky that my brother brought me a wheely walker, he still had, after my late SiL, so that I can, just about, get around the house. I have been having treatment at the hospital, with physiotherapy and pool therapy. Some days they work, others not. THEN, on top of it all, both hubby and I contracted Covid, both of us have been quite poorly, hubby worse than me and 3 weeks later we are still not well, again him worse than me. It's the first time we have had it, so I suppose we have been lucky. I know a lot of you are in far worse suffering than me, but it has hit me for six, with the constant pain. It has been a sudden change of roles for me too, from being active, with ageing aches and pains, to a being a complete invalid, not able to stand or walk without an aid.

I hope I shall start to get around to you when some days are better than others, like today. Sorry about the moans, but thought you needed an explanation for my absence. Wishing you are all well.

Trains, Planes & Automobiles TMR

Hi Everyone, one of 2 DT posts today this is for

What a great selection to choose from ay? I went from one to another, then decided to get my car die out and go for it.

I tried to get the embossed lines to be gold embossed, but it wouldn't have it, and embossed all over instead. Not a good one, but I quite liked the look of it. I wondered if I could use an all over gold embossed car. I went looking for a gold birthday quote and came across this, which was computer generated and die cut. Next, I die cut another car and embossed it all, as you see it, I went over the embossed lines with a black fine liner pen, to accentuate them.

I looked for gold paper and found this, which was die cut, and a plain card die cut to layer over it. The car was 3D'd onto the plain card with the sentiment, which was layered twice and attached directly onto the card.

car die - Sweet Dixie
gold embossing powder - Altenew Antique Gold
gold paper - Papermania, Modern Lustic
sentiment die - Julie Hicky layers, frames and banners + squares
font used - Bigger Lemons
square dies - Sue Wilson Noble square dies.

I wanted something for the insert and adapted something I saw on the web to suit my card. I also made the fuel pump in Photoshop, by added rectangles and colouring them, then a Photoshop brush to make the nozzle and pipe, dragging it to shape it. Adding a shadow to make it come to life - hopefully.

Go see what fabulous cards the DT have produced. Great inspiration for those pesky masculine cards.

Daffodil birthday & garden

Hello everyone, what a week we have had, no I'll correct that, what weeks we have had, just 2 days dry in the last 2 weeks, it's been rain and more rain, it seems for months. I wonder if we will have a dry summer? Look out, you have been warned quite a few photos to follow.

The garden it is sodden, even just stepping on it feels like a bog. As for the lawn, I think we will have to scythe it to begin with, it's so high. Now's your time to flick to my card 😉

sodden garden but the pink Hellebore doesn't mind, it's by the wall!

a good show of Camellia
Crocus and Tete a Tete daffodils

It's not even March, and we have wonderful bright and sunny daffodils in the front garden, with lots of other blooms too. I am posting a daffodil card! I have a friend who has been through a lot with her husband being ill, so I thought a sunny card is needed for her birthday.

Anyhow, I had the daffodil wreath in my files, I print and cut it out twice with my silhouette, glued it together and attached it to the base card. Next I stamped and die cut a sentiment. The main daffodils and leaves were then die cut, out of coloured card, and attached to the wreath.

Romance WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month we would love to see Romance.

My card today has a heart on it, but I think I could use it for a few occasions. I stamped the heart and embossed in gold, I then stamped and embossed the sentiment. I thought it too plain, so embossed a piece of white card, then swiped a white ink pad over the embossing and heat embossed with clear glitter powder. It doesn't show, but it does have a gentle glitter effect. The heart was cut out when embossing, the stamped heart was placed behind the heart opening and attached to the card. It's a CAS card with lots of texture.

Something New WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month we would love to see Something New.

I saw this stamp, just before Christmas, and had to have it. It was on offer after all, how could I say no?

I used a circle die cut to blend the centre, then blended the background with DO's, not as I thought it would turn out, but I liked it, so continued. I stamped the main image in white, then embossed in white, I did it twice, so it stood out more. Then moved the stamp a little and stamped with black. The fireworks were stamped in gold and coloured gel pens added more strokes, but they didn't show as much as I wanted.  Next, I layered the images onto black paper and attached to the A5 base card. I then decided to remove some ink in the fireworks with an alcohol cloth.

A larger card than normal for me and lots of blending and embossing, not all good, but I like the overall card. Because of the curve in the card, I need to flatten, it looks like there are no white edges, it's tiny, but it is there.

stamps - Imala
ink- Brilliance Moonlight White & Stazon
gold embossing powder - Altenew Vintage Gold
white embossing powder - Papermania Seafoam White
black fine liner pen - UniPin fine line

WIinter Foliage WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month we would love to see Winter foliage/flowers/trees etc.

I have some lovely Christmas stamps, but not so much foliage to put together. So my foliage, is fruit too. I went with the sentiment and stamped a pudding first, then masked it and added the strip of foliage, next I decided to add more, by adding the fruit, and berries. They were all stamped in gold embossing powder, to go with the bright in the sentiment.  Then coloured with DI's. A plain and simple card, that took me ages to think of. I've taken the photo, so you can see the shine and detail of the card.

All stamps - Magazine freebies
inks - Distress Inks
embossing powder - Altenew Antique Gold.

These are the wonderful prizes this month.
2 prizes from AALL and Create of coordinating stencil and stamp and A5 stamp set

New Home

Hi Everyone, I can't get over where the time has gone, I have been busy, and every time I wanted to do comments or come on here I've been thwarted. I've definitely been very busy doing nothing.

I made this card to welcome hubby's sister and her husband to their new home. The same heart was used here. I coloured it with marker pen then placed it onto the card base and drew a pencil line of the centre, the space was then inked. The heart was then placed over it and was attached to the card base.

I then die cut a house, cutting off the top layer, due to them moving to the bungalow. The roof was die cut, they were coloured with markers and attached to the house layer. I added sparkle pen to the door, you can see it in the second photo. Next, I stamped and gold embossed the sentiment and a set of keys. The sentiment and keys were fussy cut and added to the heart.

Yesterday, I decided to spend all day on my 'puter catching up. Then we had a call to say our BiL had been taken into hospital after a fall, last week they moved into the bungalow, so are still in the middle of unpacking. We were asked to house sit and wait for the man who was coming to connect their telephone, everyone else in the family was in work.  I'm sad to say BiL who is 90 isn't well.

Thank You card

Hi Everyone, I'm hoping you have better weather than us today, we have had rain, although it stopped dried up and came down again, and it's quite chilly too, a real Autumnal day in this part of Wales.

I had a “Thank You” card to make for a lovely blog friend who helped me out with an image she stamped and sent to me for birthdays due next year. It was perfect for the men it goes to. Many thanks, you know who are you are.

I inked an embossing folder and, and as it had a heart die cut centre design, I put it at an angle, it wasn't as successful inking as I wanted. This is the best, the third time of trying.

I had seen the sentiment stamp and bought it a while ago, because I thought it conveyed the thanks beautifully, in the lovely, twirly, special design.

The embossing folder was inked with DO's matching the gold, I hoped, and as I said, placed onto the card diagonally, then I stamped and embossed the sentiment in gold, isn't it gorgeous? I added the layer to gold mirror card and then onto the base card. Quite simple, I wish it had been that simple to do, how do you ladies get such perfect inking on your embossing folder?
