Tulips QKR

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for

http://qkrstampede.blogspot.com/

We will select two winners each of the weeks
1 using QKR Stampede or Eureka Stamps image and 1 using any image!

Anything Goes every 1st & 15th of the month

I love tulips, and we have quite a few come up in the garden. I also love this border of tulips, that at first I was going to make smaller and make a border of a few of them. Then changed my mind and used some oval dies to place them into. I chose music paper to back them, as the song "Tulips from Amsterdam"by Max Bygraves, was going through my mind at the time.

I print and cut the tulips seperately, with the Silhouette and coloured them with DI's, placing them onto the music paper and then onto the different colour green card.

As I was about to layer the ovals and tulips onto the card, I felt it a bit bare for this card. I grabbed a long time unused die and embossed a piece of card, and added the ovals and tulips, then changed my mind again and added some mirror card butterflies. I was then more pleased with it all.

tulips - Tulip border QKR Stampede
inks - Distress Inks, mowed lawn, peeled paint,
festive berries, mustard seed, fossilized amber
oval dies - Tonic
butterflies - Tonic & Tattered Lace (I think)
die (embossed) - Tattered Lace
mirror card - Hunkdory

I thought I would share our tulips that have decided to flower in the dreadful rain and gales. I hope they stand up to the bad weather.
Tulips, Azalea about to open, a peep of the polyanthus,
you can also see the heather further up the garden.

more tulips and Hellebore, with a peak at the Pieris about to open

tulips with the new Diatzia flowering

I hadn't realised what a great match the Skimmia and Cherry Blossom would be,
when we planted them together.

CAS Christmas card?

Hi Everyone, I hope you are now to the last of your Christmas shopping or at least with just a little to go, no panic shopping! As I have done in the past. I can't believe how organised I am this year, just the food for a small hamper I am doing for my SiL. She has to cope with her Alzheimer hubby and rarely goes out, so a few treats to cheer her up. I hope. The snow and ice isn't helping, we are lucky, just below freezing temperatures to cope with, so far.

Be prepared for a picture heavy post!

Anyhow, my card today came about with me wanting to stamp a CAS card and not having a clue what to do with it. I stamped the reindeer and sentiment, coloured the reindeer and wondered what to do with the sentiment. I took a brush, dipped into the green ink on my mat, that I had chosen and scribbled the colour on. It still didn't look right, so I stamped some stars and thought I should have embossed them, too late! A silver glitter pen to the rescue, it still didn't look right, so I die cut a square of pearlised card near enough to the sentiment colour and layered it. Attached to a square card, and I was pleased with the overall effect. OH! This CAS designing is hard work!

The photo gives the impression the centre is not straight, the only thing I can think of is my straightening of the card made it all wonky. You get the idea anyway, don't you?

stamps - Magazine freebies SC&P
ink- Distress Ink crushed olive, brushed corduroy, vintage photo
green pearlised card - Hunkdory
silver glitter pen - Uniball
square die - Sue Wilson Noble square dies

I thought I would show you a little of the freezing here. I love the heavy frost on the plants.

a ball Chrysanthemum and the bird bath

Heuchera

Hydrangea

this is the most we have had of frost, although it has lasted a few days. I love the red morning sunlight of the trees in the background.

Noel

Hi Everyone, a Christmas card today, what a change ay? hahaha. Anyhow, this is the card I mass produced, for our neighbours, thinking it would be easy, OH! Yes it was, but time consuming as I was thinking the word was one die and of course it was separate letters. Too late, after the embossing was done. I've chosen just one colour to show you, but I did 4 different metallic colour cards. When complete, I 3D'd it onto the card.
metallic card - Hunkydory
dies - Magazine freebies

this shows the shine of the metallic card.

Here is another card I did with the same metallic card, I had a call from my SiL, who lives close, could I make a card in the next half hour for her Grandson. He is a half-marathon (soon to be a full marathon) runner. I had nothing suitable, so went onto the web and found this image. I added it to my Cameo and print and cut the runner, I didn't 3D him, just added him onto the printed card background. I felt it added a little detail. She was pleased, and he liked it, that's all I need.

I hope everyone is OK with the temperatures plummeting in the UK. Keep warm wherever you are in the World, apart from Australia that is! I know your Summer is starting, enjoy the early warmth.

Corner Mushrooms

Hi Everyone here I am with my DT card for today, it's for the challenge at QKR. Our challenge is on the 1st and 15th of every month, so you have 2 chances every month to enter the challenge.

We will select two winners each of the weeks
1 using QKR Stampede  or Eureka Stamps image
 and 1 using any image!

Anything Goes every 1st & 15th of the month

I'm in the doldrums with mojo, I really don't know where it's gone, but it was made easier with a wonderful image from QKR that I chose to play with, then a visit to Pinterest, I found a die cut corner, simple card and decided to case it.

The image was coloured with DI's, I added clear sparkle pen. I cut out the card with a pin dot die, the overlay patterned card was also cut with a pin dot die and the corner cut with a circle die. This was 3D'd.

I added a chiffon ribbon and a bow tied with red glitter thread, added some tiny die cut butterflies from the patterned card and added a gem to each. I then stamped the sentiment and cut out with a sentiment die.

55th Anniversary

Hi Everyone, my card is for my hubby, we are celebrating 55 years of marriage today. The sentiment "it was Mint to be" I thought apt, as we were introduced on a blind date we didn't know was happening! arranged by our mutual friends, who were courting (dating) at the time. He asked me on a second date, I had just finished with someone and wasn't ready to start dating again, my friend said just one date to make a foursome so I can go out (with her boyfriend). I said OK.

We've been together ever since, that was 1963. We married in 1966, my Dad said as we were leaving the house, you don't have to get married if you have second thoughts! (I didn't) Bless him. I'm so glad I went through with it, as Hubby has been my rock through all our ups and downs, actually more downs that ups, but I couldn't have done it without him. AH!

OK all that romanticism is over now, just the card for you to see.

I wanted to use stamps I had and had been wanting to use for a while, I saw a card I was going to case, then it went from there, although I used a different stamp! It was only whilst stamping the background, I realised a 55 year anniversary is actually an emerald, how lucky is that! Silly me.

Anyhow, I stamped a background and die cut it to sit on a green mirror card, which also had been die cut. I then punched the heart out, stamped onto it, embossed and added separate punched hearts from card, coloured with the darker green. I stamped lots of mint leaves, fussy cut them (I don't like fussy cutting!) and layered them behind the heart. Another sentiment added and embossed then cut out with a die. It may be different, but as a man who loves his garden, I hope he will appreciate it, especially as we only send each other cards for our anniversaries when their special!

New Born / New Home

Hi Everyone, this is related to my last post, as Dorothy has a new brother Owen, he had a very traumatic entry into the world, then was readmitted with jaundice, but thankfully Mum and baby Owen are now at home and getting on well.

This is a photo of him and his sister

This is the card I made for them, I was looking on the web for ideas and came across This card. I decided to case it, I didn't have the die, so used a digital die. I stamped the sentiment inside the heart, but the ink wasn't dark enough, so I went over it with marker pen. I printed a sentiment onto vellum, then added embossing powder and heat set. I cut the heart background with the Silhouette Cameo 2.

embossing folder - Embossalicious Argyle pattern
striped background - Hunkydory
stamped sentiment - magazine freebie
marker pen - Spectrum Noir

embossing powder - Dovecraft

As well as coming out of hospital on Saturday, they moved into their new home the same day, poor man after being traumatised with the birth and my G Nieces and baby Owen's condition, had to do everything himself, thankfully my Niece was on hand to do Granny duty and move a few things too. After the birth he had to drive 3 hours pack up, drive back and move everything into the new house. Wise after the event, he said next time, IF there was a next time, LOL he would get removers to do it!
Anyway here's the card I sent for their new home.

the roof was 3D'd and Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen was added to the house.

Tree tealight and amazing pebbles!

Hi Everyone, my card had pieces from these makes. I saw these and thought them cute and decided to make one. I was thrilled although the card used didn't curl as I would have liked. Even so, I was going out with my old work mates and decided to show them what I had made, (they like to see occasionally.) To my surprise they asked me to make between them 4, two for christmas and two "everyday". One for a memorial light. I hope they will like them, I don't see them  again for a couple of weeks.

Here they are
the original pink tree
card - Hunkydory

card - Craft Sensations and Hunkydory

Here are the boxes I decided they would be better in.  I measured them on the Crafters Companion scoring board and stamping with magazine freebie stamps,
which I tried to match to the paper I used as far as I could.
Sorry not good photos we had a dark day and rain today

Here are the pebbles in my title.
We had a rare outing on Monday and came across this gentleman in Porthcawl sorting pebbles and stacking them, we just stood and watched amazed at his patience and how he stacked them in different sizes, how he lifted a few I don't know, they were so large and must have weighed an awful lot, but he still managed to stack and balance them perfectly.

Hollyhocks

Hi Everyone, my card today came about when I saw a card on Amazon and loved it, so I ordered the die, when it was delivered, I cut it out of black scrap card I had to see if it cut correctly, it's been sitting waiting for me to do something with the die.

I was  making a tea light holder, to be shown later, when the circle scraps lit a light in my head, not often that happens by the way LOL. I had my inks and painted a piece onto card, then remembered I had seen in a video, can't remember whose, I'm sorry, they had drawn some black lines, so decided to try it and just added my die cut, a stamped sentiment, it was too long, so cut it, I have just got over - "I can't cut a stamp!". I then decided to 3D the layer. Such a simple card for me.

Watercolour Poppies

HI Everyone, my DT card today is for the Morgans Artworld ATG Challenge all details below.

My card today uses the poppies image and I printed it out and then water coloured it, something I've not been successful in before. I've been watching some tutorials and they say to dry the print before using the water colours, so heat gun out and it worked! LOL. I also used blue for an outline background, I wasn't sure about the colour, but I think it's OK. I'm quite pleased with the overall result and feel more confident to do it all again.

I cut out the oval frame and a leaf of the stamp to overlap it, to add a little interest. I thought the sentiment could be used for lots of purposes.

Well Done

Hi Everyone, a couple of cards today for a GNiece and GNephew who have done well in their exams. I have been slow to get these to them, due to life! When I eventually got to them, I dillied and dallied with the design and papers, but got there in the end.

I'm sort of happy with them, but the words could have been a little higher and I turned the sketch and one of the cards a different way, as I stuck the centre on wrong! It was very difficult to take the photos in the bright sunshine due to the mirror card. Oh! dear! Their in the post, and the 2 did well, that's what matters most of all.
