How to digitally paper piece

Hi Everyone, I have had a couple of you ask how I digitally paper piece? So I thought I would show you. I use Photoshop CC  23.2.1 Release and DeeDee's Digis digital stamp, I'm afraid DeeDee's Digis digital stamps are no longer trading.

  • Firstly I select the part of the image I want with the "magic selection tool" this produces "marching ants" as below. Sorry their too fine for you to see, but I promise they ARE there.

  • I copy the piece selected with the marching ants and then paste

  •  here I have coloured the layer so you can see where I pasted the layer

  • I add the plaid layer

  • Now I link the plaid to the shorts layer

  •  Now it's shading the plaid layer as you would with colouring or painting.

I haven't talked about the tools or shortcuts I used ie Ctrl A and Ctrl V etc, If you would like to know. Please contact me by email if you prefer. I am more than willing to let you know. It's a very quick and easy process.

I shall also add this onto a Page on my Header, I hope it helps you understand how to layer, also you don't have to remember where this post is.

New box

Hi Everyone, beautiful day here in NATO visited Wales. I couldn't get over the security fences in Cardiff that people had to negotiate to go about their normal day to day things and, as far as I am aware, all for a dinner at Cardiff Castle. The members were actually staying outside Cardiff. Oh! well  I suppose that's the way of the modern world.

Something I did learn during the visit, that Wales has the most Castles per capita anywhere in the world!

You can't go many miles without coming across one LOL.

Anyhow, enough of all that! here's my offering today.

I am taking part in a progressive challenge and this little fellow was given to use for it.  I wanted to make something different, (my hubby says it's the full moon syndrome!) I have lots of boxes and other cut files, but I HAD to do something different, so went looking for a cup to take the digis we had to play with.

I saw this HERE, the only thing was, it didn't have an SVG for me to play with, so I had a go at copying the shape in PS and then placed it into the Cricut to cut it. I succeeded after a quite few hours of playing and cutting and redoing, you know what I mean.

I cut the shape out on white copy paper, just as well as it was HUGE, (I hadn't sized it as you can see.) I resized it, it still holds a heck of a lot of choccies or chocolate drink, I expect I will make it smaller again, at the moment it's 12cm wide and 71/2 cm high (approx 5inches x 3.1/4 inches) the size is just the cup shape.  Instead of a scalloped edge I laid maple leaves, (from PS shapes,) around the top which I also had to make to fit. I cut 2 cup handles (derived from an arrow PS shape) placed them back to back to strengthen them, then glued all together.

I added the cute chipmunk, which I printed twice one reversed, changing the colours of his outfit to match the DP, (but leaving his face and body the original coloured image) and the background from the original and glued them together, fussy cut and stuck him on top, and made a tag with the other digi and the sentiment included. I held it in place with grey ribbon (from a jumper). Added glitter to the leaves and on the cups.

Congratulations if you got through all that and hope you think it was worth it.

Seaside visit, PS alteration and picture heavy!

Hi Everyone, I saw this tutorial on Snickerdoodles and thought I would see if I could start adding extra layers and styles to my photographs.  Here is my take on the idea.  Apart from the edges I don't have the DP or images to use, so started with a photo of The Mumbles which is on the Gower coast a beautiful area and thankfully not too far from us.

I used the freebie edge from Snickerdoodles, a free texture by skeletalmess over the photo, then added a new layer of "dark scratches" I have had this since 2006, so don't know where from - sorry. Then added shadows, and a few more layer styles also the paper and tape and added styles to them too.  This is quite a departure for me as I don't usually like to "mess things up" too much, but all in all I am quite pleased at what can be achieved with PS. I also used a paper torn brush here there are 38 shapes.

Here are a few more photos taken on the same day a few weeks ago.

This "Apple" has been at The Mumbles since I was a child, a VERY long time ago.  Although it had been damaged in winter storms in recent years, it it now as good as ever.
