DESI Data Documentation¶
This site documents the data available from the the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), a 5-year spectroscopic redshift survey observing millions of galaxies, quasars, and stars. For information about DESI science results, the instrument, and the collaboration, see the DESI public website, www.desi.lbl.gov.
Recent Highlights¶
- DESI Data Release 1 (DR1) is now available! DR1 contains spectra for more than 18 million unique targets from Main Survey observations taken between May 2021 and June 2022.
- DESI DR2 Cosmology Results are now available including updated results based upon Lyman-alpha and galaxy BAO measurements using data observed May 2021 until April 2024.
This visualization is a map of ~1 million DESI Main Survey objects from a 80°x5°
thin wedge near the Equator (155°<RA<235° and -1°<DEC<4°), covering ~1% of the
full sky.
