The new live EP by Ryan W. Stevenson's project reminded me, that this debut album must have been gone down the wishlist... If instrumental Canterbury stuff is your thing, this should be a no-brainer. Firmly rooted in the past (late 60s, 70s), nevertheless with a fresh sound. Guests incude The Tangent's Andy Tillison and Soft Machine's Theo Travis.

Where to start with this one? I can blame Steve for getting me hooked on The Muffins during my radio years and their music found its way into almost every one of my Friday night shows between 2000-2005. From Manna/Mirage right on through, Muffins records have always made me smile. Interesting choices, weird arrangements, moments of great beauty and great chaos - often in the same tune. But it always keeps you on your toes as a listener, which is a rare gift. As is this amazing box set. So good.
