State Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan is celebrated annually on November 9. This holiday is dedicated to the official approval of the national flag of Azerbaijan and is one of the symbols of national pride and the country's independence.

History of the holiday
On November 9, 1918, after the declaration of independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the national flag was approved, consisting of three horizontal stripes: blue, red, and green, as well as a crescent and an eight-pointed star.
Blue symbolizes the Azerbaijani people's connection to the Turkic world.
Red reflects the aspiration for development, progress, and modern values.
Green is associated with Islamic cultural tradition.

After the establishment of Soviet power in 1920, this flag was replaced, but during the national revival at the end of the 20th century, it became a symbol of independence again. In 1990, the flag was officially restored, and in 2009, a national holiday was established in its honor.

Traditions and events
On State Flag Day, various ceremonial and cultural events take place:

* Flag-raising ceremonies at government squares, educational institutions, and public organizations.
* Patriotic rallies and concerts featuring national songs and performances by creative groups.
* Exhibitions, lectures, and lessons in schools dedicated to the history of the flag and Azerbaijan's statehood.
