The demo stations were busy. It felt great to show what we shipped in KDP for the challenges platform teams face today. The conversations moved fast: an always up-to-date single pane of glass, built-in blueprints for service composition and adoption, any Kubernetes operator turned into a self-service capability in minutes (the UI is generated, no frontend skills needed), and — of course — Kubermatic AI! In the Platform Mesh stream, we tackled important challenges: modularisation, authorisation models beyond OpenFGA, and API standardisation. We turned ideas into code. Thanks to SAP for hosting. It was incredibly fun! Both the technical work and simply spending time with fellow builders. Kudos to all the Platform Mesh team members. Great to work with you side by side. Join us and contribute. #IPCEICIS #PlatformMesh #OpenSource #Kubernetes #Kubermatic #kcp #kbindWojciech B. hat dies geteilt💻 Technical collaboration, new connections and a summer atmosphere: nearly 100 experts from SAP, BWI GmbH, Kubermatic, Liquid Reply, SVA System Vertrieb Alexander GmbH, Capgemini and other ecosystem partners came together at the SAP Innovation Center in Potsdam for an IPCEI-CIS hackathon. Working side by side on concrete technical challenges, the teams turned ideas into tangible results within just a few days. Across several workstreams, they developed proofs of concept, integrations, architectural concepts, documentation, community contributions and demo-ready solutions. 🌐 The hackathon demonstrated what 8ra and IPCEI-CIS are all about: bringing together expertise from across the ecosystem, testing ideas in practice and jointly developing reusable, open solutions for the European cloud-edge continuum. ☀️ And it was not all code. Barbecue breaks and an evening gathering provided plenty of opportunities to continue conversations, make new connections and strengthen existing partnerships beyond organisational boundaries. Participants particularly valued the hands-on format and the chance to develop solutions together rather than merely discuss them. 🙌 A big thank you to SAP for organising and hosting the hackathon, and to all participants and partners who contributed their expertise, time and energy. 🚀 The work does not stop here: many of the outcomes will be taken forward through open-source contributions, documentation, tutorials, integrations and further collaboration across the 8ra ecosystem. The takeaway was clear: developers want the wait to disappear. They need infrastructure, services, not tickets. We showed how KDP (just hit v1.1!) delivers exactly that. Pick a service, get a service. Even AI agents provision through the same API. I am grateful for every conversation. Meeting virtual connections in person is invaluable. It was a wonderful chance for the team to learn about one of my favorite local organizations and contribute their time to fighting food insecurity in NYC. A special shout-out to my friend Lewis Headden who inspires me to think more about how I can volunteer my time and money to local causes and encourage others around me to do the same!
