29th April,a sunny afternoon, my outdoor circle sits within an old chalk pit that was dug out years ago. With high earth banks on two sides its snug, sitting within the Chalk and flint of the old Norfolk land. a gravestone slab raises my altar above the mundane of the world and into the otherness. Deer antler iron tools lay out. A chalk statue of mother earth from Avebury is central. A hag stone to place the incense sticks in. Three freshly greened branches of Hazel tree and a twing of garden flowers are gifts given. A natural Jasper stone lay its colour bare , feather found near my altar, shell too. Piece of chalk and pine cones…sitting,i face north, listening to the birdsong, massive bees flitting around, sun on my back…bliss in-the Beltane energy of the land.

Hawthorn leaves have been showing themselves for a couple of weeks now in our Norfolk countryside. From the 20th of april the flowers have started to open, having said all that. we have had a few very chilly days so they will slow there progress down a little, but much will be out well before the 1st of May. So as nature dictates, happy a maying to everyone!!!
