Everyone has rights, and no-one can take them away from you. #UNCRCbday
Class Charter: As part of Rights Respecting learning I got the children to prioritise articles from the UNCRC related to school and class and then we all came together and chose the five most recurrent. The class then discussed what their responsibilities should be to entitle them to these rights and what the teacher's responsibilities should be and when this was finalised everybody signed the 'scroll'.

Why Do We Need Rules and Laws? - Collaboration Skills, Communication Skills
Great activity for the beginning of the school year! 3rd grade students gain an understanding of how important rules can be by listening to and discussing the book Once Upon a Banana by Jennifer Armstrong. They then analyze their own classroom rules and make connections between rules and consequences. Standards Aligned!

UNICEF Canada : For Every Child
Failure to ensure children have the basic conditions for a good childhood is one of the most costly mistakes a society can make. The heaviest toll is borne by the children themselves. The UN Committee for child rights encouraged Canada to further its efforts to translate the Convention on the Rights of the Child into concrete change for Canadian kids.
