James Grover Tarver
James Grover Tarver (age 24 in 1909). Billed as the "Texas Giant," he worked for Barnum and Bailey Circus and was 8'6" tall and 325 pounds. When asked how he came to be in the circus, he said he was working as a cowboy on a Texas ranch until he got bigger than his horse.
