The biggest change in my recent kitchen makeover was the cabinetry. We had basic builder grade birch cabinets that were in great condition. There really wasn't anything wrong with them, they just weren't the tall custom cabinets I was longing for. Since new custom cabinets were not in the budget, I improvised by giving my builder grade cabinets a custom look with paint, moldings and trim. The cabinets were lacking style , just square boxes so we overlapped wood trim at the top for a shaker version of crown mold to go with our new doors!
