Tile installations need to be able to move freely as the assembly can expand and contract for a number of reasons. By not using expansion joints with approved sealant such as silicone, urethane or polysulfide you are locking your assembly into place which can ultimately lead to a failure even worse than cracked inside corners. The use of backer rod in your joint prior to your sealant is also another key over looked step. -If this is the first time hearing this and didn’t know it’s okay.
