'I watched it live', Hegseth told Fox the day after September strike where shipwreck survivors were killed

(The Guardian) Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, suggested on Monday that he did not give a direct command to have two survivors of a strike of a suspected drug boat in the Caribbean in September killed in a follow-up attack. But the morning after the attack, of 3 September, Hegseth told his former colleagues on the morning show Fox & Friends that he had monitored the operation in real time. “I can tell you that was definitely not artificial intelligence: I watched it live,” Hegseth said.

White House says admiral ordered follow-on strike on alleged drug boat, insists attack was lawful

(AP) The White House said Monday that a Navy admiral acted “within his authority and the law” when he ordered a second, follow-up strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean Sea in a September U.S. military operation that has come under bipartisan scrutiny. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt offered the justification for the Sept. 2 strike after lawmakers from both parties on Sunday announced support for congressional reviews of U.S. military strikes against vessels suspected of smuggling drugs in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, citing a published report that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order for a second strike that killed survivors on the boat in that incident.

Trump's message to 'nice' Americans: You're all illegal now

(LA Times) On Thanksgiving evening, as Americans offered grace for their blessings and feasted with loved ones, President Trump’s contribution to the country’s dinner table was the digital equivalent of a flaming turd pie. On social media, he published a screed that drew from his tried-and-true playbook — personal insults against political enemies, slanders against immigrants, oscillating between calling his opponents “nice” and “STUPID.” This time, though, Trump went lower and nastier than he has ever gone before — no, really.
