Allow me to provide the answer to the age old question, what if Oathkeeper was a gun?

Notes

[edit | edit source]

Shooting an enemy hero deals 2.5% max HP damage and applies the Siphon Bullets debuff, which reduces the target's max HP by the amount of damage dealt, and increases the user's max HP while healing them by the same amount.

The max HP steal lasts for 17 seconds (affected by Debuff Resist), refreshes on subsequent applications, and stacks infinitely. Stealing max HP from an enemy places the effect on a 1.2s cooldown (affected by Item Cooldown Reduction).

Each application will steal up to 2.5% max HP from afflicted targets, but the amount siphoned is reduced with falloff and the flat damage dealt may interact with certain passives.

  • The damage dealt by Siphon Bullets cannot be increased or decreased by Bullet Resist, Spirit Resist, or damage amplification ( Pocket's Barrage or Escalating Exposure).
  • Shiv's Bloodletting passive will reduce the flat damage dealt by Siphon Bullets, but Shiv will still lose 2.5% max HP per application.
  • The damage dealt by Siphon Bullets will still trigger Abrams' Infernal Resilience regeneration passive.
  • The damage dealt by Siphon Bullets does not proc item effects.
  • Siphon Bullets does not trigger if the initial bullet deals 0 damage.
  • Siphon Bullets can not be applied on multiple targets by Ricochet due to its 1.2s cooldown, only the initial target will receive the debuff.
  • Due to the max HP steal being based on the current max HP, which decreases after each proc, the damage dealt decays exponentially, meaning subsequent applications deal less damage.
  • Siphon Bullets' current and max HP increase for its user can proc Healing Tempo, but is not affected by healing reduction.

For each instance of max HP steal on an enemy, the user gains the same amount of max HP, equal to the stolen health. When an enemy has their max HP steal duration refreshed, the whole amount of max HP that was gained from that enemy also has its duration refreshed. If max HP has been gained from multiple enemies, refreshing the steal duration on one enemy will only refresh the duration of all max HP gained from that specific target, and the buff indicator will show the duration of the instance with the least time left.

  • If an enemies steal duration expires, the enemy is healed by the same amount of the regained max HP.
  • Stolen max HP can be regained by debuff removal, but this does not remove the gained max HP from the owner of Siphon Bullets.
  • Selling Siphon Bullets does not remove the max HP steal from affected enemies.

Health gained from Siphon Bullets is visible on the user's healthbar to allies and enemies.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Before the March 6, 2026 update, Siphon Bullets could permanently steal Max HP on hero kill, with the killer losing the stolen health if they died. This allowed a player to get "negative health" and become unkillable by dying multiple times under the effect of Siphon Bullets.
