‘Black Christmas’

It might be a little early for the Christmas spirit, but it’s the perfect time for a classic cult horror flick. The original Black Christmas is a campy delight. Margot Kidder, Olivia Hussey, and Andrea Martin — YES, THAT ANDREA MARTIN — star as less-than-virginal sorority sisters being targeted by a mysterious serial killer. The murderer’s big schtick? Calling them up with breathy, creepy, vulgar phone calls and threats. Spoiler alert: this is the film that originated the infamous “the call is coming from inside the house” trope. It’s also a hilarious, zany, creepy delight (and ironically doubles as a prequel for Mindhunter).
