Happy Easter 2023!!!

To those of you who celebrate...
H A P P Y     E A S T E R!

Goodness! How is it Easter already?! If you follow me on my challenge blogs (Path of Positivity, The 12 Months or Christmas, Scribbles Designs), you will know that the first 3 full months of the year were a bit of a challenge health-wise as I battled one bug after another. I'm finally feeling about 95% better. Just have a few lingering symptoms to get rid off. I also FINALLY have my voice back after an almost 14 week absence. You never really realize how much you rely on your ability to talk until you lose your voice; especially when it was gone for such a long period of time! Hubby is also doing much better and my parents are hanging in there as well. I'd hoped to put something out for St. Pat's day or to celebrate spring but unfortunately, I just wasn't up to it. I was off the computer for a total of 10 days while ill. In [probably] the last 15 years, I haven't missed more than a day or two at a time, so to be off for 10 days, well, it gives you some idea how bad it was in our household. Thankfully, I am getting back on track. Still have several winner announcements to prepare and some other stuff to catch up on, but slowly, I am getting there.

Today, it is time to celebrate Easter. The Easter Bunny continues to be considered an essential service and as such, will be allowed to travel around the world, popping into homes to leave goodies here and there.

Hopefully EB will have the opportunity to bring many of you some sweet treats or fragrant ones. My gifts to you are two digital papers in honour of today…

https://app.box.com/s/qnrqnqveit6xs1vy0bqmqbwbzm3tditl

One of the papers is a repeated pattern of the bunny scene as you can see in the preview. The other is an enlarged version of the bunny scene located in the lower left corner, leaving most of the top right blank.

These digital papers are 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: PawStudio (via Creative Fabrica) and Janet Scott (via Digital Scrapbook.com). To grab them, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the papers, their preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Before you go...

I'd appreciate it if you could let me know which version of the paper you would get more use from. Is a repeated pattern more useful or do you like papers that just have a segment and lots of 'free space'? Or, would you end up using both papers for different types of projects? I know that my followers have dropped significantly (my fault entirely for not being around more) but it is still important to know who I am catering more to--scrapbookers or card makers or someone else entirely? It helps me to plan better for future freebies.

Looking for more free stuff??!

You can find another free Easter themed freebie that I made HERE, over at Scribbles Designs!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be spending as much of the day as I can with my awesome hubby!

Until next time,

PS: Please note that if you make a purchase from Creative Fabrica using the link provided in this post, I may receive a small commission.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY 2023!

I know I missed last year completely but I am going to TRY and post some freebies when I can throughout the year in honour of special occasions. In the case of today, it is to commemorate the day of love.

I designed two different frames. Check them out...

https://app.box.com/s/ejbp2iql6k3m14tr5jwg

These digital frames are 3600 x 3600 pixels, in png format and published at 300 dpi. Just in case you think that it is too much having the word collage in each of the hearts, I created a second one where it alternates. This way you get a choice. The centre of each frame is transparent so you could add a picture, a digital image, a complimentary patterned paper or even another sentiment. The frames could be used for cards, scrapbook layouts or even in a journal.

Credits include: Creative Fabrica Crafts (via Creative Fabrica) and Designious (via Inky Deals). To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

I hope that you have the opportunity to spend some time today with people that you love; or, if you happen to be on your own, do something to show yourself some love! I will be spending the evening with my hubby! We're going to watch a romantic movie and nosh on Hors d'oeuvres all night!

Until next time,

Merry Christmas, An Update & An Apology

Hello to all my friends, followers and readers. It has been another interesting year, hasn't it?! While I was hoping that this year would be a better one than last, it too provided many challenges. I know that I am not alone in that but here is a bit of an update on how it has been for myself and my family.

I seemed to bookend the year a bit with battling a couple of infections. One at the end of February and one at the end of October. Both took a lot out of me but I recovered from each of them. As always, I also had my regular health issues to deal with but managed to handle them for the most part.

One of the health issues that increased this year was my anxiety and propensity to become depressed. For the last number of years I have worked very hard to not fall back into the black depression I had when I first became disabled back in the early 2000s. These last couple years, it has been an increased challenge to stay mentally healthy. Though, I think that this year has been even more of a struggle than last, on that front.

A part of that has had to do with worry for my parents. My dad is now 81 and my mom is 76, and each has their own health issues to deal with including cancers that each have battled. My dad also has lymphodema which affects his ability to feel his feet. Due to this, he has had a number of bad falls this year. The two most recent ones saw him having to be taken to the hospital.

We had the opportunity to go and visit my parents for the first time in two years at the end of November. We had all finally been double vaccinated. There was no way that I would visit them before I had my second jab as a big fear of mine was that somehow I would pick up the bug travelling and pass it on to my parents who both are immunocompromised. Plus, my father was just finishing up a bad cold at the time that had been going on for three weeks already, so his immune system was low.

Instead of our scheduled four days we ended up staying six days which was wonderful but the time went by much too fast. Thankfully, dad's cold symptoms were almost completely gone as well by the time we departed. A week after we returned home my dad started to feel ill again and two days later, had another bad fall which put him back in the hospital for the 2nd time in two months. Unfortunately, it wasn't only the ramifications of the fall that he had to deal with this time around. He ended up testing positive for covid. We were all stunned because my father hadn't been out of the apartment since he was released from the hospital at the end of October. Sure he had had a bad cold but he had finally healed from it by that time. I was terrified that someone my hubby and I had brought the germs into the apartment with us but neither of us got sick. In fact, my hubby ended up randomly being tested for covid when visiting his sister at a nursing home so we knew that he didn't have it, and with my immune system, there is no way that I would stay asymptomatic. So, we figured that one of the people who deliver groceries, one of the PSWs who enter the apartment, or one of the purchases that came into the house must be how it entered his system. We'll probably never know.

He was admitted to the hospital on the 5th of December; and in addition to covid, he was also diagnosed with pneumonia. He was put on high oxygen, given antibiotics and medications for covid. He had a horrific cough that once started took a long time to dissipate but his spirits remained good. While mom managed to remain symptom free for a couple days, it was inevitable that she become sick as well. At 2:00 a.m., on Dec. 8th, the struggle was too much so she called an ambulance. Later that same day, against the wishes of their family doctor, my dad was sent home. There was no way he should have been sent home yet, and the fact that he was there alone was alarming to me which of course further spiked my anxiety. I spent the next three days desperately trying to convince my father to call an ambulance and head back in as he had progressively gotten worse since his release. He was seriously struggling to breath and could barely walk at all. He finally relented on the evening of Dec. 11th and it was a good thing, as he was considered critical the next morning. He ended up in the same room as my mom and she was so worried that morning watching as the doctors worked with him. He now had bacterial pneumonia on top of the covid and his lungs were struggling. Once again he was back on oxygen, this time at 80%. It was a scary couple of days waiting for him to improve. While mom didn't sound any better to me, she was released on Dec. 14th. My thoughts at the time were focused on worrying about dad in the hospital and my mom alone at home. Thankfully, either a PSW or a member of the Covid Team came by to the apartment each weekday to check on her. There was very little she was able to do for herself as her main complaints were exhaustion and weakness. Dad remained on oxygen, though it was decreased a little each day, until they released him on the 19th. Both are extremely weak, exhausted and dealing with the lingering effects of covid (and for my dad, the after effects of having a bad pneumonia as well). Thankfully, for now they continue to have a personal support worker or someone from the Covid Team, checking on them daily throughout the weekdays but it is definitely a challenge for the two of them to look after themselves properly when they are so weak. It has become difficult for them to take care of themselves during normal times, never mind right now. They have been told that it will take MONTHS before they are back to their normal selves.

While the year had been tougher in general for me, this past month has been almost unbearable. Living so far from them has certainly taken its toll. As a result, most of my time was spent dealing with this current crisis. I checked in on each of them daily and helped them from afar with stuff as I was able to.

As you can well imagine, this also has limited my time on the computer. As such, I had to change things by postponing certain events and challenges with the three teams and challenge blogs that I manage. It also means that I will not be able to complete my annual 12 Days of Christmas. Believe me, I went back and forth on this decision over and over again but finally decided that my mental health has to come first. So this is where the apology comes in. While I typically have less than 15 people join in each year, I know that most of the participants really look forward to it. I do as well, as it provides me with an opportunity to get to know players a little bit more each year. It is my fondest hope that I might be able to do it or something similar later in the year but if the past two years are any indication, I can't make that guarantee. So, my sincere apologies for not being able to provide The 12 Days of Christmas this year. I also apologize that I haven't been as active with freebies again this past year. Time just isn't on my side at all anymore it seems.

Now that all being said, I did manage to find the time to create a free paper in honour of Christmas. I'm not sure about the rest of the world but I know that most of us in Canada are once again not having the Christmas that we are normally used to. However, even in these strange circumstances I truly hope you have (or have had, depending on your location in the world) a wonderful day with the people in your household, and if you're in a location that is doing well, time with close family and/or friends.

As always, it is my firm belief that everyone should get at least one present on this day. So here is my Christmas gift to you...

Happy Easter!!! (& update on 12DoC papers)

Okay, so I'm starting to sound like a broken record. In the aftermath of dealing with some health and personal issues, I just haven't had the time to get the papers sent out to those who joined in for The 12 Days of Christmas. I will go through the rest of the comments and get the list compiled as soon as I am capable of doing so and I appreciate your continued patience.

Now for the other reason for today's post. To those of you who celebrate...
H A P P Y     E A S T E R!

For some of us in this world, we're in the exact same position as last year at this time; unfortunately, in a situation where we are forced to celebrate Easter a little bit differently than most of us normally would. Here in my home town, we've been in lockdown over two weeks again and with the numbers continuing to go up with all these variants, it is hard to say when it will end. If you yourself are in a location where meeting with those outside your home is also prohibited, I can certainly sympathize. Thankfully, with all the technology available these days, reaching out to our loved ones is easier than ever. I hope that you have the opportunity to connect virtually or by phone with those you love during this special long weekend.

Just like last year, since the Easter Bunny is considered an essential service, he will again receive special dispensation allowing him to cross borders and travel into each of the Canadian provinces--as long as he is supplied with the special equipment he needs to do his job safely. I hope that the Easter Bunny has received permission to travel to your part of the world as well.

Hopefully EB will have the opportunity to bring most of you some sweet treats or fragrant ones. My gift to you is this digital paper in honour of today…

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be spending the rest of the day with my own amazing hubby who continues to have to go out every day and work since his job is considered essential as well!

Until next time,

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2021!!! (& update on 12DoC papers)

Okay so first things first. I'm soooooooo sorry that I still don't have the papers sent out to those who joined in for The 12 Days of Christmas. Suffice it to say that things have been rather difficult in the last month. Between getting bad news that a close family member has cancer to dealing with a bacterial infection that really did a job on me, it hasn't been an easy time. I will go through the rest of the comments and get the list compiled as soon as I am capable of doing so and I appreciate your continued patience.

Now for the other reason for today's post. Happy St. Patrick's Day folks! Whether you are Irish or simply Irish at heart, for those of you out there who celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I have a brand new freebie for you in honour of the emerald isle.

Check it out...

I appreciate your patience. I promise I am trying to get to it!!!!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Let us hope that this year is a much better one than the previous one was. We normally each have our own issues to deal with but this past year we became a global family all battling one very bad situation in particular. With the new year upon us, it is filled with so many possibilities. I hope that we can leave the tragedies of 2020 behind and look forward to health, happiness and prosperity in 2021!

Let's start off the new year with a freebie, shall we?!!

Freebie: A Day to Remember

Hello friends. Once again, November 11th has rolled around. A day that we should never forget!

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 1918, the battlefields drew quiet as the hostilities ceased. Thus bringing an end to World War I, 102 years ago today.

Each of us living in Commonwealth countries around the world, should take a moment today to remember and honour those who have bravely fought in ALL wars to help keep the peace and keep us safe.

Each year I try to honour this day in my own small way with something special. Here is a digital paper I created for anyone interested. I get that it isn't as versatile as some papers but I came across these incredible medals and thought it would be a great paper for anyone who knows someone in the military and also something different for the future We Remember Kit that I am working on.

https://app.box.com/s/hnrinysfogv54f8lt9f5cvn8ns31cu47

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. I've used resources from Alexander Lesnitsky (aka AlLes via Pixabay), Shadowhouse Creations and The Coffee Shop Blog. Full credits in the file. To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location.  MAY WE NEVER FORGET!

Freebie: Happy Hallowe'en 2020

Hello on a cold (-3 degrees Celsius), damp and dreary Hallowe'en night! While we had our first snowfall of the year a few days ago, the cold wet weather is persisting. Unfortunately, I don't think that many kids will be out and about tonight. We've purchased some treats just in case but I can't see too many parent letting their kids go out given the current pandemic that is raging through its second wave here in Ontario. The numbers in my home province are almost twice what they were in the spring on a daily basis and our hospitals are filling again! Thankfully in my own community the numbers continue to be relatively low. At least that is one benefit of living in the northern part of the province! It has been quite a year hasn't it?! I hope that you and your families continue to stay safe out there wherever you may happen to live.

While hubby remains downstairs ready to hand out treats just in case any kids brave it (it's already close to 7:00 p.m. and not a knock so far), as usual I've been up here on the second floor of our home on the computer getting stuff ready for the first of the month and of course making you all a Hallowe'en themed digi paper. Now I am aware that some of you do not celebrate Hallowe'en, but as I've mentioned in years past, Hallowe'en is actually of Christian origin. Whether you celebrate it or not, maybe you can find some use for this year's freebie.

Check out the preview...

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. I've used resources from Creative Fabrica Crafts and HG Designs. Full credits in the file. To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

It is a busy time of month so join me at The 12 Months of Christmas for our newest link up or at Scribbles Designs for our midway tomorrow. Then if everything goes according to plan, I should see you again next Friday when I'll be back with my card for Pattie's Creations!

Until next time,

Sail ho, me hearties! Will ye drop anchor 'n visit wit' me fer a wee bit o' time? Th' yearly celebration where ye flap yer jaws like a buccaneer be upon us! Arrr, indeed, today be Talk Like a Pirate Day. Shiver me timbers! Even th' scourge that be out thar in th' world plaguin' mankind, won't be stoppin' me fellow buckos from drinkin' some grog 'tis day. However, me thinks that 'tis year, things be a might different. In past years, each September 19th, thar be parrrrties, fund-raisers, pub crawls, 'n other special events takin' place all over th' world. Sadly, 'tis year, festival after festival be cancelled. As Ol’ Chumbucket says (more about that seadog below), it’s as if all 'th pirates be marooned. We be 'Pandemic Pirates' 'tis year wit just our pirate families, unable t' be wit our larger pirate family abroad! No need t' hang th' jib though as me sure thar be many scallywags out thar who be findin' ways t' still be parrrtyin', even if just wit a much smaller group o' mateys virtually!

Fer thems o' ye who be me followers these past few years, ye be knowin' 'th history o' 'tis day's beginnins. Fer thems o' ye who be unawares o' 'tis unique occasion, it starrrrted out as a fun concept in 1995, encourrrragin' people t' talk like a pirate. It be created by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) 'n Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), hailin' from th' state o' Oregon in th' U.S. Accorrrrdin' t' Summers, th' day be invented as th' result o' a sports injury. While th' two mateys be playin' racquetball, one o' thems reacted t' th' pain with an outburst o' "Aaarrr!", 'n th' idea be born. Thems two scallywags sent a letter about thar invented holiday t' th' American syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry in 2002. 'Tis chap be likin' th' idea so much he promoted it. Th' media grabbed hold o' th' holiday after Barry's column 'n it now be an international event followed by many each year on September 19th.

If ye be on Facebook, ye can log in 'n see Ol’ Chumbucket share some news 'n Cap’n Slappy himself be plannin' t' go live from his special seat at th' Calapooia Brew Pub t' wish ye th' best of th' day as well (link t' find yer way below).

Fer all ye seadogs 'n scallywags alike, just like in past years, t' help celebrate 'tis glorrrious day wit' a bit 'o swag, me be givin' ye fer free some booty from th' coffer. Ahoy! Every old salt knows th' boat can't leave port wit'out a good anchor on th' ship…

https://app.box.com/s/hwfehhuliiaoepafetebgu6wdxthvvkb

T' be grabbin' 'tis treasure, click on th' button above t' be taken t' a download location. In th' zip folder ye will find a copy of th' loot, its preview sheet, th' credit information 'n me terms o' use which are standard t' all me folders. 'Tis loot be in jpg format 'n published at 300 dpi.

Now o' course me can't be sendin' ye along yer way wit'out a pirate joke or two:

Q: What's a pirate's favourite movie?
A: Booty and the Beast.

Q: Why couldn't the 10 year old go to the pirate movie?
A: Because it was rated ARRRR.

Oh, 'n if ye be interested in findin' out more fun facts about 'tis fun day, be sure t' check out th' official Talk Like a Pirate website available HERE (FB link in sidebar).

Well me hearties, 'tis time t' weigh anchor 'n hoist th' mizzen! Until me be sailin' these fair seas again,

Note about me pirate name...
Passion be a big part of me life, which makes sense fer a pirate. Even though me not always be th' traditional swaggerin' gallant, me steadiness 'n plannin' make me a fine, reliable pirate. Arrr!

If ye be wantn' yer own pirate name, be cerrrrtain t' click HERE.

Happy Independence Day!!!

It is still the Fourth of July for some hours yet and that means that all my wonderful American friends, followers and readers are celebrating Independence Day today. As promised on Wednesday, here is another freebie--this time in honour of the U.S.A.

I decided to stick with the same type of theme as the Canada Day papers, as today's papers also features cupcakes only this time in red, white and blue. While one of the papers is specific to the States only, I decided to also create a copy without the text so that others could use it as well. Check them out...

https://app.box.com/s/2tkosb9kt15ryzzwk664zebq5tg9gtaq

This digital paper is one that will become part of the Spirit of America kit that I am working on. I've used resources from Natali Arkush Art (via Design Bundles) and Marisa Lerin (via Pixel Scrapper). The font used for the 'Happy Fourth of July' text is courtesy of Alejandro Inler (via Font Squirrel). Full credits in the file. To grab them, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the papers, their preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Well folks, that is it for this one. I hope that you all continue to stay safe and healthy where ever you may live.

Until next time,

I've used resources from Natali Arkush Art (via Design Bundles) and Marisa Lerin (via Pixel Scrapper). The font used for the 'Happy Canada Day' text is courtesy of Alejandro Inler (via Font Squirrel). Full credits in the file. To grab them, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the papers, their preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Oh and don't worry, I wouldn't forget the celebration coming up on Saturday in honour of my neighbours to the south (oh and north in Alaska and also west in Hawaii); so, be sure to come back then for an Independence Day freebie.

Wherever you may happen to reside, enjoy the remainder of your day everyone!

Happy Easter!!!

To those of you who celebrate, Happy Easter!

I realize that this year we are forced to celebrate Easter a little bit differently than most of us normally would and that for those of you with extended family and especially young grandchildren and/or young nieces and nephews, it may be especially difficult not seeing the little ones in person. My heart goes out to you if this is your situation. The great thing is that with all the technology available these days, reaching out to our loved ones is easier than ever. I hope that you have the opportunity to connect virtually or by phone with those you love during this special long weekend.

I have it on good authority from the Prime Minister of Canada that the Easter Bunny is considered an essential service and therefore will be allowed to cross borders and travel into each of the Canadian provinces. In fact, I heard a report from the Premier of Alberta and his team that they have extra supplies of personal protective equipment stored up in their warehouses that they will be sharing with the three worst hit provinces in our country. Additionally, they have also promised to send the Easter Bunny some equipment as well so that he can do his job safely. I hope that the Easter Bunny has received special dispensation to travel to your part of the world as well.

Hopefully EB will have the opportunity to bring most of you some sweet treats or fragrant ones. My gift to you is this digital paper in honour of today…

Before I go, I wanted to share a link to a sweet video I watched earlier in the week. Some adorable Meerkats take part in an Easter egg hunt in the London Zoo while it is closed. You can find it HERE.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be spending the day with my own amazing hubby who continues to have to go out every day and work since his job is considered essential!

While I don't normally create a paper that can just be used for one particular month, I recently acquired a set that had some adorable mice along with the year written in cheese so I just couldn't resist.
