The line “saw a spider crawl from a slain woman’s mouth” is so evocative, I’ve been thinking about it all day. Too poetic to be biographical; too bizarre to be purely fantastical... beautiful work!

lyrics
I heard the devil sing a gospel hymn
I saw an angel shooting heroin
Not every savior has been heaven sent
You might be forgiven but nobody’s innocent
I grew up on the west coast, raised in the south
Saw a spider crawl from a slain woman’s mouth
Miracles are real good reasons for doubt
And none of us know what divine love is about
I wanna get unhypnotized,
I’ve gotta get unhypnotized
To see with unconditioned eyes,
Get my demons exorcised
Unhypnotized
I felt the serpent’s tongue upon my skin
The fairest of them all enticed me to sin
I swallowed poison in the wicked wood
Couldn’t tell night from morning or evil from good

I love this album because it's about the place where I did most of my growing up in Southern California and songs like Homeboys truly resonated with me - I can close my eyes and when Gene sings about a football game, "light post to light post" and "talking about each other's sisters under the street light" I'm transported to the summer of 1984 and playing ball with Richie as the sun sets, wondering if Kevin's sister might like me, and the sound of my mother's voice calling me in for the night. oldkookskater
This is a formative album for me that has aged so well. I had no idea at the time how well crafted the album was and am so thankful for this remaster and chance to add it to my physical collection. auraltecture

Fantastic album/CD with great instrumentation and vocals. Also an inspiration listening to the lyrics. Excellent recording quality as well.
I give this my 5 Coconuts!
